Right here's the obligatory box top art work and sprue shot

Captain Canada

Right on. The Peashooter is such a net looking aeroplane.

This is a real stroll down Nostalgia Street  ;D

I'd forgotten how well fitting some of these Revell kits were, never built this one, and some of the detail is quite nice, albeit raised, and some of the parts like the trim tabs are so thin they are transparent. The instructions too are of an age. They name the parts, which is how I learned the names for bits of an airplane, and then say glue part 1 to part 2 ensuring no glue comes into contact with part 3. Lovely  I know why it's no longer done like that but it was still good to see it again.

Anyway I'm well down the construction path. I've only added a joy stick, rear bulkhead and instrument panel to the cockpit. Looked a little bare without them and these just liven it up a bit. Once the seat (more like sofa) has dried I'll add some tape lap belts and then close the fuselage up. After that there's not much to do. The wheels/spats/trousers have been built as a sub assembly and will be attached after painting the underside. I recently found some old Humbrol Authentics military colours (which must be nearly as old as the kit) so have used some of these on the innards. The various shades of leather and armour from the old ancient sets are great for this.

One thing which threw me when I looked at the kit was that it had loads of tiny holes in it ??? At first I thought these were flaws or the very rare tropical plastic worm had hit my stash, but they are the pre-drilled holes for the rigging  :o I say pre-drilled as some were flashed over. Now this is a second hand kit so a previous owner may have done this but they look way to clean. Does anyone know if it came pre-drilled ?

Anyway means I've no excuse not to rig her now

Those between-the-wars "intermediate" designs, and the colour schemes...
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Dude, this will be awesome!!!

I looked around and found and answer to your question at modeling madness:

"The makers have attempted to help the builder rig the airplane with flying wires, but all of the holes in the wing and landing gear aren't there,  so they will have to be drilled out."

http://modelingmadness.com/review/preww2/bakerp26.htm

So, seems as if someone lent you hand inadvertently by knocking them holes out!   Ol' boy there in the link did all his rigging and it really makes the model look the best.

And... plastic worms?  I had no idea such a worm exist! Must be related to billy goats some how or another...

Right some progress shots.

Painted innards

Just a little filler. This was the only filler she needed and if I'd got my clamping right the tail wheel/bumper join would have been ok without filler. There was a minute gap at the rear of the fuselage and I would normally have used Mr Surfacer 500, but mine has died and gone to heaven. What was left, very little, has solidified. So I thought "how about thinning PPP ?" So a dab of said filler on a toothpick + a tiny drop of water, mix and it ran into the join perfectly, and set very quickly. One for the memory bank

Primer on, shows those rigging holes

She will need some work underneath. Mainly some scrapping and sanding of the centre line join and a little more PPP. Probably mean I remove the raised detail but I've had a "Baldrick" moment if it comes to that

Underside has had a couple of coats of Halford's Aluminium and it doesn't look to bad. But oh those rivets  :o

I haven't forgotten this it's just that my friends unexpected death knocked the stuffing out of me for some reason. I think I was being totallu selfish and for the first time it made me think of my own mortality ?

Anyway done some work. Painting is done, trousers are fitted and they have had some PPP added to the join with the wing. Hopefully SMW will recharge my batteries and I'll get her transfers on post Telford. After that it's rigging  and then pics.

Although I've not been modelling the brain has been working and I've thought of a fair few new projects as I can feel the enthusiasm returning.

One of these will be real world as I intend to try and build an example of each aircraft type that was aboard my Dad's carrier whilst she/he was part of the B.P.F. I also need to see if I can find a kit of the type of destroyer he was on prior to that. Need to research that first though which means trawling through a load of old documents and photos which will take ages as I will be constantly side tracked by memories  ;D

Which carrier was he on Chris as I can give you hand finding the Squadrons and types, as to the Destroyer let us know when you find the name and time period and I will see if there is a suitable kit available

I am also going to do the aircraft from my late fathers carrier(s).
