Armor marking identity

I'm wondering if someone who has a knowlwdge of WWII German Armor can identify this marking, or for that matter if it was used. I know that Queensryche uses it for their logo, but I saw it on a tank once and have never been able to be sure that it was really used. Thanks.

For what it's worth, that certainly looks like a post war design to me; 1970s at the earliest. That graphical style did not exist in the 40s.

Might be a really long shot, but could it be the signet of the AFRIKA KORPS?

Yes, it is the signet of the Afrika Korps.

^ No, I meant whether the Afrika Korps signet could possibly be what Eddie had in mind.

I mean, with some (okay, a lot of) imagination you could see possible parallels between the two designs, especially when seen in a smaller size.

That is similar, but the one I saw was like the example I linked to, only in one demension and a light color. Can some one direct me to a place where German tank insignias would be posted?

According to the results of a simple net search, the 'tri-ryche' symbol was designed by Todd Rockenfield, the brother of Queensryche drummer Scott Rockenfield.

Eddie, I've seen a few that Division insignia that look roughly like the Queensryche logo, I've posted those that look the closest.

There are more on this Wiki page, but it doesn't include the SS Divisions. If it's not one of those either, it's possibly a brigade or maybe just an individual marking.

Thank you Gentlemen. I've been a big fan of QR since their beginning and had learned about the conception of their logo back "in the day". Maybe the problem here is where I saw the marking on the tank. The History Channel. I'm still convinced I saw it on a tank and on TV. That logo sticks out like a lightening rod to me. If it turns out that it's a fake image, then it's another stake in the heart of the Almost History Channel.
