Hi all,
When I read the RAAF considered the North American Vigilante as a potential Canberra replacement it went into the "maybe one day" files...then a package from Old Wombat arrives, including the Airfix Vigi kit. Aha! Then another friend kindly sent me some late F-111 decals and...

Neat idea and well executed.

Did the underwing marking take some damage?

Yes indeed!

What's not like about a Vigi?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Hey Zac.  Good to see you posting.

This is great.  Vigilante is on my want list so I can do similar.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Sweet! 8)

And good to see a kit I'd probably never get around to building put to good use.

Great job, Zac!

Nice one Zac!

You might imagine an RA-5D doing the same mission for NZ that the SH-37 Viggen did for Sweden, i.e. maritime surface recce. The aircraft uses it's radar to find all the ships in an 'area of interest' and then photographs them with it's cameras. The contents of the camera canoe would have to be changed, probably to an oblique LOROP camera, so that it can photograph warships without overflying them or flying straight towards them. Of course, if it finds something you disapprove of, it can call up it's squadron mates with the Harpoons on-board...

Thank you all very much! I thought it would be interesting in the last F-111 scheme rather than the SEA.

Thanks Phil. Unfortunately it did - I may have used too much thinner with my Matt Cote as when I swiped the brush over the roundel part of it vanished. I was too scared to continue, hence why most of the model is so shiny.

Thank you! As it happens, I have another built Vigi from a friend that could be restored into that...
