2023/2024 GB Season - Call for Ideas

Right here we are, this is the place to submit your ideas which will then go forward for voting to determine the subjects of the 2023/2024 GB Season.

Can I please ask you to think carefully before you submit an idea so as to try and ensure it is at least practical in terms of building it.

Can I also remind you that subjects from the previous 2 GB Seasons are not eligible. Thus : The 50's, Logistics, Lightning/Hunter/Canberra, Recce and Surveillance, Gunships, and Pirates are not eligible as subjects for this season's GB's.

I will aim to run any necessary preliminary poll on the 21st March and the final round of voting will take place 1st April.

Thank you

Chris
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Something simple - Aces.

Any model of a aircraft, vehicle or ship/sub that was an ace-maker. That could be a James Bond car or a jet or Allen Carter's Eagle One or a U-boat...

You just have to state where it became an ace maker - Richard Bong's P-38 lightning would be a good example or perhaps Bond's DB5...

Heck, Poe Dameron's X-wing would be worthy.

The "Anything but military".  Self explanatory

The "Research or exploration". Space, air, land, sea or undersea.

How about a "Single Kit" build?  Meaning everyone tackles the exact same kit.  Something of reasonable quality, but cheap and easy to find everywhere like maybe one of Airfix's recent 1/72 WW2 fighter kits or one of the kits reboxed around the world as Italeri/Revell/Tamiya?  Obviously this would require the additional step of everyone agreeing on a particular kit but it would be interesting to see the different interpretations of the same base product.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Allows for Ski planes, high latitude vehicles, ice breakers, railway snow ploughs, deep space, the moons of Jupiter,  dioramas of tundra tractors.................................and possibly even a guest appearance of the Track Rover.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Since the 1990s IPMS-Seattle has had an on again off again "Modelfy" group contest as part of their big annual spring show. It's varied between having to use a single kit, to using any kit in any scale of a singular subject. The basic requirement is that it can't just build the kit OOB with different markings or paint scheme, it has to be "modified" in someway, thus "Modelfy". The only other fast rule is that whatever you build has to have at least one part that is clearly identifiable as coming from the designated kit/subject.

Very fine concept !

It's a Land Rover, NOT a Jeep .
Like a Jeep, but for gentlemen.

Dizzyfugu

How about a generic "Science Fiction" build?

It's not popular, but I will (still) throw "Afrcia" in, because it's such an overlooked but vast region. "Middle & South America" might be a similar alternative.

I'd also have suggested some kind of "Winter/Snow" or "At sea" theme (but it's already been mentiond) , and I really like the "Aces"  and "Single Kit" ideas.
