So I got a Lindberg XB-70, some missiles, and some decals from BDB. I went the "Gerry Anderson" route ( especially reverse anything you can- up dihedral becomes down, swept-back becomes FS, etc.), changing the intakes, painting her silver, and creating the Soviet Tu-122 "Buxom" intercontinential supersonic bomber. (Of course, the "Buxom" was obviously back-engineered from the "Valkyrie".)
She's almost together- I ended up adding a pair of tailfins from some 1/72 Soviet fighter, and a cockpit from a Snap-Tite 1/72 F-18. I also added a Soviet X-15 equivalent, made from a couple of missiles I had floating around my spares box.
She's pretty.
Pix soon.

Wow, good work so far M3, looks like a cross between Soviet real-world 'Valkyski' designs & Firefox! Keep it up!!!
Yowsa MMM those are some great modifications! I'm absolutely amazed at what you've done with this! The canards, tailfins and new canopy really make this stand out! I can't wait to see your next update.
Brian da Basher
Wholly freakin moley!!
Damn, I wish I had thought of that!!!!!

Yes, I like this 3 mach. B) B) B)
Anybody else thinking without the missile on its back it could pass for a Firefox derivative :o :D .
Looking good anyway
Yeah baby!!!
*bookies slash odds on MMM winning SSGB*
Man that is nice!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I noticed that myself. This is a fun model to "fly" :f16: around the studio, BTW.
looking good MMM, I think I really need to get started on my secret santa... hmmm... Gerry Anderson, eh? ;)
QuoteAnybody else thinking without the missile on its back it could pass for a Firefox derivative
Most definitely!!
MMM, that is one gorgeous piece of work.
I really like the way this is shaping up! I'm pretty sure this baby would leave anyone who tried to intercept in the dust!
Pure genius! One of those concepts that manages to look fantastic from every conceivable angle, too!
Okay, so I'm on my THIRD attempt to do a bare-metal finish, using Testor's Metallizer (Steel). Hope to get to decals by the weekend.
:( Oh, well... the bare-metal finish ended up spanking me badly. No model in time for judging, but I'll end up posting after I strip off what I've done and start over.
Matt,
Cool. Now that's a Commiebomber!!!!
Dang, that's sharp looking! Now, apply the GLORIOUS Red Stars, tovarish, so you may fly it around the studio properly (Striking fear and envy into all the running dog Western models you have on the bench)!
ZOOM-ZOOM-ZOOOMSKI!!!!!
:tornado:
Hey, did I just see Comrade Captain Anatoly??? Hope so, he owes me a case of good soviet Vodka..
(AnthonyP Runs up with crazy person net in hand)
You guys just see a fur hat wearing Commie run through here with a bottle of vodka in one hand, and a cattle prod in the other?
Don't ask about the cattle prod... or why all he's wearing is a fur hat...
:dum: :dum:
