Got a sweet deal on this bird....16 bucks. There's a couple more there, albeit the SAR versions. One has Norweigan decals, I think, which might be interesting. ( hint hint, I'm looking for an excuse to buy it if somebody wanted the decals )

Heh, drunken minds think alike. I just ordered some CCG decals and was going to do a 1/72 RoG HH-65 up as a CCG companion to the Canadian SAR HH-65 I did last year (or was it the year before, I forget?).
I'll take those Norwegian decals if no one else wants them (Why, yes, I'm an enabler, why do you ask?). I'm sure I've got something to trade for them.
The more HH-65s the better !
I was just reading the box.....those Chinese are hilarious with their translations !
"Z-9G-an armed helicopter developed from the Z-9A, can be used for anti-tank attack, ground fire suppress, scattered target attack, anti-horror assault, aerial patrol, communication etc. when equipped properly. Z-9G is powered by two WZ-8A turbo shaft engines which are made by South Power Corporation under the licence of Turbomeca for production patent, with maximum emergency power 734 HP of each. Z-9G can can be equipped with missile, rocket, cannon, machine gun etc. and attack the target very accurate by application of special electronic device."
Yup, I wish my armed forces had an anti-horror assault capabilty, them pesky living dead are getting out of hand !
 ROTFLMAO, i dont care who you r thats funny right there ( larry the cable guy)
Quoteanti-horror assault

I've got a dilemma here....to paint it yellow and red SAR ? Red CCG ? Or maybe gray with some white and red ? Or black and red as a night bird ?
Ugh......
I was going to do a 1/72 in Red and White, so a larger version of it might look cool, though those other colour combos you mentioned would be awesome!
Cockpit is coming together

Slightly crazy, but how about a retro lightning stripe scheme with red/black fuselage band??? Just to make your dilema that bit easier..... :dum:
That's one
blue cockpit you've got there, pilots'll need sunglasses whatever the weather! :P
It's actually gray ! Just the crap lighting I took the photos in.
Hmm......retro scheme....never thought of that !
This thing was really starting to look wrong....until I painted the windscreen black and looked at a bit of the red. Now she's back on track !

Looking good, Toad! I like your drink of choice.
Progress......
I'm still waiting to hear from Bill at canmilair.com about some 'SURVEILANCE' decals for this bird, as used by the CCG. If I don't hear from him soon, she'll be wearing standard CCG decals. But then I'll have to mask 'er up and spray on the white stripe.

She's also gonna be carrying a MAD sensor from a Fuji OH-6 kit, and maybe a torpedoe as well.
OK, Toad San, you got my attention !
Ian
She's coming along nicely, Ian ! I'm just waiting for some decals and then i can glue on all the fiddly bits.
Yowsa that's sharp, Toad! Looks great in those Coanadian Coast Guard colors!

Damm, that is one fine looking helo Taod san. Can't wait to see her finished.
Looking good - and isn't she wee for 1/48?

Ew....that's just gross, Nev !
As for progress......I need help with photography. I've got an awesome camera ( Nikon D40X, 10.2 moogli-pixels ) but all my attempts at model photography turn out poo-poo (with an english accent) !

Its not *that* bad.
Try taking them outside, in daylight. And have you got a tripod?
Toad that's one very clean, sharp Canuck Coast Guard helo you buit! Very very impressive!!!
Brian da Basher
Very nice Cap.

Yup. The flash really doesn't work for taking model pics. If you have a tripod, you can get away with taking the photos indoors. Also, try playing with the settings: increase the F-number to get more of the model in focus (at the expense of having to increase exposure time).
Besides the afore-mentioned natural light and Hobbes' suggestions, you might want to see if there's a "Collection" or "eBay" setting on your camera (I excrement you not, one of mine has an "eBay" setting). I've used "Collection" on a camera for taking closeups, and it worked great!
Looking great, btw! Those Dolphins out of Selfridge need company rescuing drunken ice fisherman on Lake St. Claire! :drink:
