Title: Soko Model 512
Post by: B777LR on November 17, 2007, 03:18:37 AM
In 1931, the Yoguslav Air Force requested a new light ground attack aircraft. The result was a light single engined aircraft, with open cockpit and a rear gunner. By 1936, these where however obsolete, so a young colonel in the Yoguslav AF, Col. B. Basher, added spats to his personal machine. In 1940, the wehrmacht invaded, and Basher got to see his first combat in his Model 512S (S = Spat). The german pilots where at first blinded by the coolness of the spats, causing them to crash. In 1941 however, a (un)lucky stuka pilot blinded by coolness, crahsed into the yoguslav air forces bomb depot, meaning that Basher couldnt fly missions anymore. He eventually fled to the US, were he resides today... ;)

Ingredients:
1x Airfix Chipmunk
2x Droptanks from a P-47
2x Rotor from Lynx AH.1
Some sprue
Sand paper
Putty :ar:

Chop off engine, and fit it upside down (looks very cool, actually  ).
Fit spats under wings. Sand the wingtips and tial tips round (to give the 1930s look)
Remove canopy and fit a windscreen.
Fit tail gunner and gun!

Pictures: (note the spatted tail wheel!)

This one's coming together very well, Trip 7! You've really captured that inter-war era look quite convincingly! I like the wing and tail sup[ports, the antenna , windscreen, and of course, those uber-cool spats!

Now with paint! (and 3 bombs!). Constrution has been hard the recent days. Canopy break off, pilot drop out, carpet monster attempts to steal tiny bits such as rear gunners and their guns, and antenna drop off! All fixed now...

With the paint on you could fool a lot of people into believing this airplane really existed! Nice work, Trip 7!

That is fantastic dude! I absolutely love it....and how you inverted the engine.

Must say it reminds me of that Czech monoplane I built a coupla months back from the Airfix Tiger Moth....great to see a similar concept executed much more convincingly.

Eagerly awaiting completed pics!

That's just killer Trip 7! It looks very convincing! I'm sure you'd fool quite a few so-called "experts". I really like your choice of markings. Fits this bird like a glove!

I'm very well pleased to have my "monopoly" broken. Nice work!
