This is the proficied VF22 Su27 style version to feature extended wings and other niftyness

Confession: I actually completed one of these before the build start time by accident and without using any tools or glue  ;D

just some more shots of the SV22/Su27 type version with added spine (made of flattened plastic tube).

The unmodified F22 in the photos is stock and is going to be the RAAF version

I've done beer for breakfast before, it's not a good look.  :drink:
It's not a pie its bread (DaFROG's special racing bread, of which a key ingredient is pumpkin soup )

The basis of these planes are 1/200 (or so I am told) revell minikits which i bought for $1 each about 5 years ago, unfortunately they didn't come with candy  >:(

Still on teh VF22/Su27 style one the ATD-X requires only a canopy mod and teh satelite killer is all strap ons :o :o :o :o hopefully stick them together by the weekend then paint them all together

some more progress, the VF22/Su27 thingee has turned into a satelite killer as well.
The external tank on the F22 might be a tad big and i have a sneaking suspicion that the only way to get the F22 off the ground with the missile strapped on would be ZLL

Amazing, in any scale.  In 1:200, this is sheer madness, I tell you!

The small scale actually makes it easier, there are less parts and parts like the fuselage are massively thick in relation to their overall size allowing easy alignment and butt joints to hold it all together. Also I don't have to worry about panel lines (I will be drawing some on with a very fine pencil to add a bit of detail more than anything else). I also don't have to use industrial bog/bondo or epoxy putty that takes ages to dry unlike some of the builds for this GB whic have gaps bigger than and wntire one of these models to fill ;D
Ohh no LG to stuff around with (and get in the way of stupidly oversize satelite killer missiles)

Those missiles BTW are an unholy union between 1000LB laser guided bombs and bits of some AAM that tornados carry, which have these weird cranked foreplanes (is it a sparrow??)

They'd be HARM anti-radar missiles. The top one in this picture. (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:AGM-88_AGM-45_and_AGM-65.jpg) :)

Why bother with the hair dryer - use Tamiya Acrylics they dry so fast you can see it! (Which is a touch annoying cause they also dry on the brush if your too slow)

completed entries now with backstory (TM)

first up the Su47, designed using data stolen from the F22 program.
This is the satelite intercept version with twin rocket boosters to improve rate of climb and ceiling.
It's carrying a 2 stage satelite killer missile
The model is an aircraft of the 7th space intercept division of the red banner northern airforce. There are special markings on the fins to comemerate the 90th aniversary of the october revolution.
here's some final pics before paint so you can see what bits i made (white plasticard and rod) and much much tamiya putty thing.

second: F22C satelite interceptor
Uprated F22 airframe with external tankage for LOX/LH2 propellants for the rocketdyne RS-86 engine added between the burners.
(https://www.whatifmodellers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi286.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll97%2FDaFROGtypeX%2FF22%2FDSCF0005-1.jpg&hash=779708eec8364ad8c9804fc5fcda8cc5f90ebee7)

in retrospect the external tank (came from a 1/144 tornado) is proabbly a bit big, ahh well next time i'll make the plane bigger to fit it  ;D

third: RAAF F22A
extensive lobbying (and gifts of green and gold tracksuits) by prime minister howard resulted in a agreement to export the F22 to australia
(https://www.whatifmodellers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi286.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll97%2FDaFROGtypeX%2FF22%2FDSCF0016.jpg&hash=67045e749efb14851bf9166a92a5b40405c813c2)

(not much of a whif but I already had 2 sheets of lo vis 'roos for my RAAF RF4X)

I didn't have time to finnish the JASDF mitsubishi ATD-X it's al togehter and i cut off the burners with the intention of fitting starfury esq padels I also lost teh canopy (though it needs to be moded to look like the pics i can find)

Neat mods!   And the comment on Tamiya Acrylics is highly agreed with, especially when their proprietary thinner is used.

Looking good there, guy.

I actually used citadel paints for the Su47 (over a tamiya spray base coat) they go on nice and seem to self level well, i think it might fill detail but there was none on these kits  ;D
these were teh really old pop top citadel paints (the ones where you have to prise the lid oof then it bursts off spraying ultramarines blue all over teh cat :o), I'm not sure how good the lates ones are, the ones in my stash all dried out  >:(
the two F22's have tamiya IJN grey undersides but to get the paint on nice i had to apply heaps of really thin coats (my paints are all at least 6 years old though)
how does one get tamiya aqueous paint to behave on large areas?

See and ya'll thought I put big weapons on my builds ;D  I love those things. Everything about them. I am very glad you posted pics cause I don't think I could see them in person. If I did I might hit them with a flyswatter ;D
