Maybe it should be the first, because I'm farther along on this one than the F-8. Anywhos, here's the profile from Maverick and my build using the old 1/72 Revell Mirage IIIE/R
OK, Brad, you've got my attention.
Ian
Promises to be a beauty!
Looking forward to this one Brad!
Regards,
Mav
Yeah, baby: time for an update (please)...
No pics tonight, but a midrange PSR session actually ended up with no R! I have a few minor seams to finish sanding but she should be in the paint barn tomorrow. With the Mirage there, more time for the F-8!
Final seams sanded and canopy Futured, taped and PVAed. Cover the wheel wells and off for paint.
She now has a grey belly. I spent some time getting the topside colors picked out and won't get them on tonight, but I'm pretty stoked to get this one finished.
Mmmm...Nice!
I've thought about some of Mav's Finnish profiles for my eventual entry. I think it will look great on a Mirage.
You better be quick fellas, only 2 weeks to go!
More color. Just a dark green to go. Then gloss, decals, flat, weathering........ :banghead:
looking saucy

Mmmmm, winter cam!!! Glad someone's doing one of Mav's Finnish winter birds, I'm sure it'll look fantastic!
Hubba hubba - Sorry, don't know where that came from, I meant, 'looking jolly good, sir'
Ian
Still stoked from the show today so I got more work done tonight.
Not as much a what-if , more a should-have-been !
Ian
That is truely a thing of beauty. Damm nice work Brad...
DONE!!!
Nice Mirage. It looks really good in that Finnish camo.

Turned out a corker Brad! Where'd you get the Tukilentolaivue badge from?
Regards,
Mav

Absolute beauty Brad!
That looks damn good - well done!
Looks great, I'm definately a lover of winter-cam!
Thanks guys. Mav, the badge and the rest of the decals came from the newish Revell 1/72 Mig-21F kit. Had to modify the badge though. It shows a Mig-21 from head on which looks a lot like the Mirage except for the Migs horizontal stabs. Out came the black marker and white paint and BINGO! a Mirage.
BdB, thanks for the cockpit comments but I must confess. All decal with a True Details MB MK.7 banger. Nothing fancy at all. The kits cockpit was so basic I wanted to do something to dress it up. Same for the tailpipe. Just a big hole with a blank a few mm down and no detail on the inside of the nozzle. Popped out the blank, found something engine-ish to put down there and went after the nozzle with a file. I'm real happy the way it turned out.
Thanks again!
Top notch quality

Beautiful build! Mirages!
A Shiner Bock to the newest Texan Whiffer!
now thats truly a clean and beautifully finished build there 'scooterman', looks soo right as a 'might have been'!
yours is the first model iv seen in John's 'Finnish Winter' camouflage scheme, it really sets the shape of the Mirage off well too, bestest luck with the group build contest
cheers, Joe
