Title: Alpha Attack Jet SSGB #2
Post by: Ed S on May 01, 2011, 12:32:59 PM
My Secret Santa, not only challenged me with the Monogram B-66 which became the SARO Pelican but he included a Fujimi 1/72 Alphajet.  It wasn't sure I could get both finished, so I held off posting my Alphajet build.  But over the last month, I found time to get it finished as well.

B-66/Pelican thread.  http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,31357.0.html (http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,31357.0.html)

The Alpha Attack Jet was offered in competition to the Italian AMX and British Hawk 200 as a lightweight fighter attack a/c.  There were some sales particularly to African and Middle East customers.  One such user was the Algerian AF.  The Alpha Attack Jet was a single seat variant of the Alphajet.  I had new LERX added to the wing roots and the rear canopy was replace with additional electronics and fuel. An additional weapons station was added above the wing for lightweight A-A missiles such as Sidewinders and Magic.

The camo pattern is similar to many of the gray schemes used on modern fighters but based on light and medium tan colors.
