Title: 1?24th scale model car wheels.
Post by: chrisonord on February 07, 2012, 11:20:25 AM
Is there anyone that does aftermarket wheel/tyre sets for model cars in 1/24th scale, after seeing that converted Kublewagon on another thread, I fancy doing one as something a bit different. If there are any other bits available that would be good to know too.
cheers,
Chris.

Chris,

There's HUNDREDS of them available, so many you'd need a whole catalogue just to list them!

Having said that the largest market is for the American custom car model market so tend to be very wide and very chrome. How about talking to Little Cars at Peterborough (I think....) who should know the market quite well.

Aoshima, Fujimi et al do wheel/tire sets: check out http://www.hlj.com/top/Aut , locate the search option on the left of the screen, enter the scale and select Tire/Wheel sets under "type" , hit "go" and wave bye bye to your money...
Some of the aoshima sets are really nice, and sometimes come with extra's even if none are mentioned in the blurb (think loudspeakers, decals, claxons etc).

I have found some on ebay but they are in hong Kong, found some 13"" alloys with low profile tyres that would look good on a lowered Kublewagon and a pair of big bore pipes exiting from under the sills.

I read this as 1724 wheels, and was wondering what powered cars might have been built in that era.

1724 eh? Well, Nicholas Cuganot porbably wasn't born yet... but he did build what historians recignoize as the world's first self propelled road vehicle in 1769... And it's look great with some phat rims!
The Cuganot Steam Truck (http://inventors.about.com/library/weekly/aacarssteama.htm)
And like all modified car enthusiasts, he promptly ran it into a wall.
