It seems that all you ever hear about with respect to the JSF these days is talk about how it's getting to be ever-more expensive, how they're detuning the performance to save money and how the program is constantly losing the faith of its very important international customer base.
A while ago, I read in a Combat Aircraft Magazine that Japan basically told Lockheed and the US to get their house in order, or they would cancel their JSF order and reconsider their options. Given that they want to replace the F-4EJ Kai Phantom, I will admit I don't even get why they chose the JSF (politics aside).
I mean, to replace a twin-engined, long ranged figher with a single-engined short-ranger is silly, to me. Of course, this got my Whiffer-sense all aboil and I started to wonder what they'd chose instead of the JSF. That's when I thought of a JASDF Typhoon!
Check out my latest creation, the 1/72 F-13B Typhoon (http://wp.me/P2SZML-oY)!

Oh......superb....!! Really like that
Yeap that is rather tasty especially in that scheme, you'll have to do some more photos to show off the weapons fit
Lovely looking tiffie. The markings suit it well.
That is nice, but is it me, those colours make her look a little on the short nosed side ? Shows what camouflage can do
Narse: I'm glad it's not just me, because I thought the same thing: that the nose looked too short. Now, I don't know if it's a problem with the kit or not, but when I looked up in my books for side profiles of the Typhoon, and compared the proportionning, it didn't look that off. It also looked fine until I painted it; when I dry fit the nose, nothing looked out of place! I guess it does show the power of cammo, or that the camera adds 10 lbs and shortens noses!

If anyone wants to see the full weapons load in more detail, follow the link in the orignial post, or
THIS LINK (http://wp.me/P2SZML-oY), and you'll see the full article I wrote on this bird. There are a few shots of the weapons in there. I never just post a single picture, there's always a link to an article, too!
I think the problem is that it's a two-seater. They do look much less graceful than the FGRs - the big humpback makes them look short and fat.
Nicely done.
Pretty bird, I've seen that combo before, but without the engine change.

I, too, think that the singleseaters look nicer. Something about the proportions with the different canopies...
Impressive... very very impressive....
See, I like the two-holers better. I think that a two-seat airplane just exudes meanness. I always think to myself "Wow, that plane takes two people to manage it; it must be really something else!" whereas with a single seater I usually figure "Well, one guy can handle it, even if he's busy, so I guess there's nothing too specialized there..."
Just me of course!
Some two-seater aircraft look great, certainly (Phantom, F-15E, Tornado etc), but the Tiffie T-bird is just a bit silly-looking and awkward IMO. It messes up the proportions. If it had a big spine it would be a different story. That's actually something I intend to build at some point. Also more canopy framing... :)
To my mind the 2 seater Mirages, both deltas and the F1, and the Su-27 series, look miles better than their single seat counterparts.
And I'm with pyro-manic about the 2 seater Typhoon, it looks TERRIBLE!
Awesome job
very nice indeed.
I still like the two-seater just fine. I think it does make the aircraft look a lot higher and shorter, though.
I generally love two-seaters, but I don't like the SU-27U and its variants. I think the cockpit is too ridiculously stepped, and it makes the plane look like a hunchbacked vulture (think Disney's Jungle Book for what I mean).
I do like the MiG-21, 23 and 25 two-seaters, though! Of course, the British Side-by-Sides (Lightning, Hunter, Vampire) are awesome, as goes without saying, as is the TF-102! (Meng, where's my TF-102??)
