Title: Anthony P Memorial Build
Post by: NARSES2 on January 20, 2014, 02:41:14 AM
Right lads are we still up for this ? Details here http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,38094.45.html (http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,38094.45.html)

I propose running from 27th Jan to 27th May. It would be in the Theme Build section and the Theme would be "Za Rodina" ie anything Soviet, Soviet satellite (real or imagined) or anything vaguely Soviet'ish. The idea would be to honour the man and his work.

Nice idea!

I have some potential contributions in the stash...

I may be moving house soon, so the stash is packed away. May I offer a backstory or two instead, for anyone who wishes to cut styrene  on them?

Well, "Za Rodina!" would cover just about everything I build, so I'd definitely be up for this.

And I not only have a lot of half-built stuff that needs an incentive to finish, but I've also got some ideas centred on my large collection of unbuilt Airfix Pe-2s - - -

I have a half-built project that would be ideal, and a few other possibles. My contribution might have to wait until the middle of the period though.

I've two Mil based projects in mind, might give me the motivation to get them started.  Maybe also a part started project, if I haven't lost any of the bits.

I've got an almost completed model that would suit this build and it'd only need the cockpit painted and some decals and it'd be done.  ;D

I've a Frogfoot ready and waiting just for this build.  I also have an imaginary Soviet satelite in mind.

Now I just need the work Nazis to stop giving me too much work in order to free up some spare tome for important stuff like this.

I'll put it into the Theme Build section on the 27th when I open it as per my original post with a link from the main board. This thread was purely to remind people we had discussed it briefly last year

I've dug a Hasegawa Yak 3 out of the stash. I know the country who she'll fly for and I have a choice of scenarios. One will be circa 1944 the other 1946. Not sure which one yet but both require a fair old change to history.

I've been informed that the correct spelling when translated into English is Za Rodinu. so I've changed it

Yup I found a kit in the stash and then worked out an idea for her, then checked the transfer boxes. My idea came from the box illustration of a completely different kit that I just happened to move to get to something else. Serendipity or what ?

Beyond the Suchoj I-2M107 another weirdo idea struck me yesterday. No aircraft, rather something SF-ish  ;D

Got to check the pile(s) in the basement...

I have started on my build for GB. Found out that I had the cockpit built and painted already. Probably not going to affect how long it takes me to complete it as I build slowly anyway.

Yup, however I've tweaked another war to get mine. Not quite sure where I'm going yet but it's boiled down to one of two options

Quick question - obviously it's a build thread, but are profiles allowed as well as physical models?

That inspres even more ideas... maybe a real world aircraft in alternative history markings? I see Finnish roundels combined with a Red Star...

TsrJoe had some musings on a 'Soviet Finland, these two threads might help with inspiration:

How did I miss this? Only discovered this group build and the reason for it...  :o

If I'd known, I'd popped my Mongolian trilogy here.
