Title: MiG-29 Fulcrum Pics under the wire
Post by: Captain Canada on February 06, 2014, 07:06:49 PM
:thumbsup:A father of one of the kids my son plays hockey with gave me a kit that's been languishing in his basement for years.....turns out to be a 32nd scale Revell Fulcrum !

Well, I guess I found my build !

now, what to do, what to do.....

Add a 1:72 four-seat cockpit and make a 1:72 strategic bomber from it  ;D

Cool. I was thinking scale-o-rama....but 144th ! lol. I guess that would make it too big to land at any earthly aerodrome.....

I think the problem there is me coming to grasp with the size of a 32nd scale a/c ! 72nd scale sounds much more reasonable.

Sometimes, good (?) ideas just linger ready to be picked up.

Anyway, I'd love to see this thing - maybe with four engines, tandem bogies, and some serious Air-to-Ground missiles (up to three Kingfisher, maybe?). Then in a typical Tu-22M paint scheme in grey and white...?

Go totally bananas and scaleorama the other way round.  Make it a 1/16 scale drone.....or one (small) man parasite fighter......

I love the idea of a strategic 1/72 bomber..................I may have some 1/48 scale jet u/c (F14 an B1B) somewhere....if you wanna use it I'll see if I can dig it out.......?

Thanks for thoe offer H....but if I can find all the sticks from that Tu-22 I built I'll use them. Problem is, I don't think the new cat just knocks them off, she actually eats them ! Stay tuned......

Still have to sort out the bits for this one. I decided I'm not going to hack up either my Tu-22 or my #u-34, as I really like them both. Mind you, as stated before, the cat has pretty much toasted the first one by knocking off all the bits and knocking it off the shelf on several occasions.....

So I ended up going smaller, but still doing a Mig-29. I bought the Airfix dog of a kit. I have the major assembly done, and I have some landing gear from a 144th scale KC-135, but I might try and find a three bogey main set. I hope to start painting tomorrow.

Big screw up on this one.....forgot to paint the cockpit before glueing down the canopy and I don't like the way that looks ! Might try prying it off, as most of it's painted so it doesn't really matter if it breaks a little....but still..... :banghead: :banghead: rookie ( read: drinking ) mistake !

Nope. Can't pry it off. Since it was being painted over I put on more than enough gkue.....oh well, on to the rest of it !

Got most of the painting done. Painted the wheels and landing gear as well. Hope to finish it tomorrow night or late Friday night.

A bit of a scale-o-rama. I tried to copy the finish of the Blackjack prototype.

Nice one - like how you dealt with the canopy in the end.

Thanks guys. As usual I had delusions of grandeur and then ended up with this. I'm sure Anatoly would have gotten a kick out of it tho !
