Title: Chippy whiffy
Post by: Caveman on June 26, 2014, 01:04:31 PM
Hey guys. I discovered an unmade chipmunk whilst moving house (I had a stash! Who knew...) I have been wondering what to do with it. Found a cool photo edit by electric blue of a jet chipmunk that I think I might try. Has anyone got any other ideas?
I have previous reengined a chipmunk with a radial from a Hudson.

I like sound of the jet idea, I'll look that one up.

From kitnut617 in Has anyone built a agricultural aircraft model? thread

A recent article in an Air-Britain publication had photos of some Chipmunks converted for agricultural spraying, basically a typical sprayer aircraft type canopy set over the rear seat and the front seat faired in which had a hopper installed instead of that seat.

If Ag planes are not your thing how about a turboprop FAC Chippy? Or reverse direction of the canopy, wing, horizontal stabilizer and relocate the vertical stabilizer to above the engine for a canard version?

The lad has the mind of a true whiffer!

You may want to Consider using the Chipmunk as a Coastal ASR(Air Sea Rescue) plane too. i thought i heard of the RCAF using some Chippy's as ASR Support for the Coast Guard, Unsure unless Someone from the Great White North can Confirm,No Offense to those from Canada! Dan

How about floats? A Swedish SAR aircraft (all orange) could look nice, too, or a civilian user - e. g. as a forest fire spotter (Canada?)?

All that needs is the spray bars for crop dusting!

Could go for the Shinden look, having the engine at the rear and remove the vertical tail fin. So it looks back-to-front.

Leaves room for a big gun in the nose above the engine...

That almost looks parrot'esque, and no I'm not going all Python. Paint that in bright colours as a beak/bill and you've a new form of Parrot/Toucan, take your pick  ;D

Toucan might be doable... No promises though

Toucan!!! With that nose, can't you just see this painted up in black with the Guinness logo on the sides?

(Edit) While searching for something totally unrelated, i found this...

Think it may be something to do with a south african advert!

That's the wildest Chipmunk whif I've ever seen ! You have to look pretty hard to see the Chipmunk bits eh ? Nice !
