As it says this is the place to discuss the 2020 One Week GB.
One of my favorites!! I'll actually be able to participate this year for the first time in far too long!! Time to go inspect the stash for a fitting candidate.
1WGB2020 is also 'Kitbasher's 1st Post-Retirement GB'. I'll be entering something and it will be finished during the week.
Probably ;)
Good luck, y'all
I can't even PLAN a build in one week, let alone actually do one! :o
Victim selected. Poor thing, she's normally very graceful.
I am still uncertain about my subject for this 1WGB. The Thai Navy Skyhawk that had been earmarked has been "sacrificed" for the In The Navy GB... :-\
But there's a G.91 project on the list that could make a proper contender.
Can I get an extension?
With the stuff I brought back from home it occurs to me that I just might be able to compete this time.
I may need some allowed preparations though..............
Well I've selected 3 possibilities. 2 are AZ kits straight out of the box and the third is a nice piece of resin that would continue my what if Polish AF theme.
I have a new era Airfix kit, the engine from a different new era Airfix kit, Some parts from my parts boxes and some scratch.
Manufacturer will be Farley.

Farley seems to be very fashionable at the moment. Does anybody knows the ISBN code for the Putnam book "Farley aircraft since ...".
I cannot find it on bookfinder.

The Putnam volume on Farley aircraft has not yet been published . I believe that there is a problem involving libel lawyers, a prominent politician, a herd of guanaco, illicit cheese dealing and several brown paper envelopes.
In order to fill this void, a very brief and no doubt inaccurate history is available here:- https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?topic=47864.msg882503#msg882503 (https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?topic=47864.msg882503#msg882503)
Should you be able to add any data to the history mentioned above, please do so!!
The Farley Fairy Penguin was a successor to the Farley Frigatebird autogiro (https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?topic=47840.15).
From plans recently discovered in the library of stately zen manor it appears that following the legal actions taken against Farley they may have stopped "taking inspiration" from Westland designs and switched to being inspired by a different UK manufacturer.
I'm sure this question has come up before, but as I've never entered a 1 Week GB before I've taken much notice of the answer, but......
If it starts at 1 minute past midnight, in the small hours of Saturday morning, and ends at Midnight on the following Sunday, that's not 7 days, it's 8.........
And another thing................
Rule 4 says '4) "Preparation" work is allowed prior to the start of the GB - this includes the cutting out and cleaning up of parts, even printing your own decals (!), but anything involving paint or glue is not allowed.
Am I allowed to cut bits off one kit in preparation for gluing them onto another one? It's not gluing or painting, but it's not actually 'cutting out' either.

It's actually 9 whole days. I just counted them on my fingers.
Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs, Fri, Sat2, Sun2.
;)
Yes, that's a tradition and certainly part of Rule #6! Ssssh!
Ah, OK then. I'll proceed accordingly, thanks. ;D

Yup as Diizy says, it's traditional ;D

I can't see why not, but then I'm not the Moderator. Check with Kitbasher

You're cutting and cleaning up parts, Kit; the rule doesn't specify which sprue, or indeed specify sprues at all, so I'll say yes.
MAGIC! Thanks very much, sawing will commence in a minute or two. ;D
As I've already started cutting and filing stuff for this, may I post 'pre-build' pics yet, or should I wait till the Build itself starts?
Sorry for so many questions but I've never done this 1-Week thing before.
Actually, after checking back, I found I DID enter the 1-week build in 2017 with my WAH-66 Crossbow Comanche. I can remember building it, but didn't realise I'd done it a week!

OK Dave, will do. Thanks.

This is not clear from my point of view. Do you want zero personal topic before the start? (start of gluing/painting for models, of drawing lines for drawings)
I was considering to participate in making a drawing of slanting view for the Republic XF-12(Z and others) and I could have explained in a started personal topic which 3-view I will use, which slanting view drawing is already on the web (made by someone else) and why it does not satisfy me, and so on.
But I may stay silent without such topic till the very day of starting to draw. Tell me, as I am willing to follow the rules but I do not understand them.
Will respond later by PM, Tophe.

PM inbound as promised Tophe, but for now if you want to 'preview' your plans then feel free to briefly indicate what you have in mind - if you want.
Regards,
Dave

Also Kit (and apologies, my response seems unintentionally brusque), please do feel free to provide a teaser trailer of what you have in mind. This could include a pile of parts but nothing more just yet.
One pic of a pile of parts attached. ;D

SWMBO has decreed that next week we are taking a three day trip to a nice quiet spot in the North Carolina coast...pressure on now!! Kit choose narrowed down to four. I hope I can get that down to two by Saturday.
Given your current build rate I'd expect both to be built ;) ;D
You ain't kiddin', Brother Narses! :o
I was going to have a go at this but unfortunatly the kit hasn't arrived that I was going to use so unless there is an extension I can't take part :banghead:
Gondor
Not long left, playmates.
Well done to those who have finished (how??).
Mega encouragement to those who haven't.
Those who won't be finished pleased do carry on - we all want to see the final product one day.
More on the voting arrangements soon.
Looking at the entries, so far, there's going to be tough choices in the voting.
Afternoon all,
The extension is running to it's close - thanks those who have posted up their completed builds, those who have held off starting new projects, and I note a few have decided not to take advantage of the extension. Reasons for the extension explained, not all agreed (fair enough) but matter closed.
I'm in the process of setting up the vote for this year's one-weeker (OK this year the one-and-a-bit-weeker). The vote is currently locked so don't be tempted to vote yet. Hoping to set it up akin to the In the Navy vote and busy swapping PMs with Old Wombat and his IT Department for guidance!
Voting starts later in the week - the start will be announced shortly.
Thanks everyone for your entries, fantastic efforts by all. Some of the builds (and I think we all know which) are particularly outstanding, given the time available.
Anyway, as indicated yesterday I'm in the process of setting up the poll, which will begin once the 'In the Navy GB' vote is over. It'll then run for 7 days.
