Title: T.H.O.R. 2 project
Post by: wacek85 on February 18, 2021, 10:40:46 PM
Frank Murphy left T. H.O.R. 1 to be destroyer by train but it was proven that whole Tactical Helicopter Offensive Response idea for control of agressive crowd was worth considering again. Metropolitan Police Department found an retired AH-64A without significant part of ir's equipment and it become a basis for T.H.O.R 2 development.

So, because helicopters are my main point of modelling interest and I love Blue Thunder, Airwolf, Kitt, Street Hawk and all of these crazy vehicles then I can't miss opportunity to build one since mojo is flowing. Yesterday I bought 1/48 Ah-64 and had planned surgery. What will be done:
-remove of wheels and struts, skids instead of them
-remove front observing device, gun instead
-one big engine instead of two.
- stub wings heavily modified or scratchbuild
-scratchbuild fenestron instead of tail rotor
-honeycomb-structured armor on bottom side of fuselage
-other Police equipment based on real world device and Blue Thunder originals parts.
-of course, will be blue, not olive drab or sth 😊

Well, I can't wait 😊

This is surely going to be good!
When i built my AH-1 with the Fenestron, i also thought of doing something similar to an Apache so i can't wait to see what comes out of this. Skids instead of wheels is an idea i've also thought of but for another chopper.

Maybe if you found some hex rod in a large enough size, you could use slices of it for the armour?
Any irregularities in height could be addressed with a filing/sanding session and this would also help contour it better.

Or you could use the rod to make a pattern in some clay/plasticine and pour a thin resin 'mat' to applique on.

To be fair - I'm too lazy :) I'll simply paint it in easiest way - using mosquito net as a mask :)

Let's start with fenestron build. Main part is a Tamiya tape roll, rest is styrene sheets (1 mm)
