Title: Orford Ness, a partial history
Post by: The Rat on January 09, 2023, 09:06:31 AM
Much of what went on in this area of England is still unknown. https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20230106-the-eerie-emptiness-of-britains-area-51 (https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20230106-the-eerie-emptiness-of-britains-area-51)

Thank you, sir, well spotted!!

Fascinating article, some elements of which may well appear in a backstory I'm currently working on.   Continue scrolling down, and an article on downward ejector seats appears; also worth a look.

They had a couple of test systems from my employers at Orford Ness in the early 80s, but they wouldn't let me in there to install them, but I did un-install them from the other AWRE at Aldermaston where they they were originally installed. They didn't work properly at Orford, and I spent ages on the phone trying to explain how to get them adjusted properly, but they didn't take too much notice.  :banghead:

Late on they took them back out again and I put them back in place at Aldermaston.
