Quote from: Gondor on May 14, 2023, 04:51:22 AMOne company I worked with had three of us, all with different speilings as well. Took some time to get the correct name for the correct person. At my cuttent work there is another guy I work with that has the same initials, have to write my first name rather than initialise documents and forms.

Oh I've had that with initials to..his was PBH aswell and that got annoying on more than one occasion and it didn't help that both our names was Phill .
Luckily that happened only at that job ...not alot of ppl out there named Phill  ;D
But why take your name and spell it so many different ways I don't know  :banghead:

It probably has something to do with History, locations and people not knowing how to read or write. Some of the versions are probably Irish, Others Galic and yet more English versions. Add in time and people just being people and vairations will grow and grow.

Ambulance company I once worked for had like 5 or 6 "Chris"s working for it.  Which is how I got (and eventually adopted) the nickname "Scooter".

Mike or Dave or Steve..those names are so common here it's not funny..no kidding but here at the camp we have 3 Steve's and 2 Dave's  .

We would have 2 Mike's here but sadly one passed away last yr ...cancer got him ..bloody nice old timer.

Guy's right about his name ..ive never met a Guy here.

At my first Air Force squadron at one time we had five guys named "Ken". That never happens!

The biggest issues I have with names is remembering them..my head truma knackered my memory..I can be told a name and it gone 5 mins later if I have something else to think about....it's bloody annoying 😒

I just got a email from Airfix and it's a total of 13 pounds ..postage included..im quite happy with and I'll call em tomorrow night .
Then I've gotta think off with engine to use on it as I've already got a kind of idea what this will be ..kinda ..I know I want 4 or 5 bladed props on it and what aircraft are going to sacrifice  ...ahh just popped into my head..the engines will be from a P-38 complete with the turbos...ive got quite a few P38 bits to play with.😊🙃

An office I ran after escaping from teaching had three of us all called Michael..................so we had Mick,  Mike and I answered only to Michael.   One of those peculiarly British compromises that shouldn't work, but does because people want it to.

Same with me. Faces are no problem, but names  :banghead:

A trick I use is when I meet someone I've already met I normally wait for someone to say there name and id that doesn't happen then it's just mate 😉

I've never been good at names but it's really bad now with the different meds I'm on.

Is your name not Bruce then?  That's gonna cause a little confusion.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Works ok to a degree, problem comes with girls. At the end of our first date my ex said "you can't remember my name can you ?". I said "what makes you say that ?" She replied "because you keep calling me Luv, Darling, Gorgeous etc"  ;D
