Yeah it's original price was $75 ...got it on special 
I would say it could be quite soon but the word soon is relative in this place

Mate. Here in nz prices for models will make certain parts of your anatomy pucker .
Your not the first in here who's been shocked I can tell ya.

I have a couple of Red Roo resin 1/48 Hurricane tropical (Vokes, I think) filters but I have Plans for both of them, one of them being the Defiant.

Red Roo don't seem to have them on their website any more, either.

Shocked is the understatement of the year so far     $75 is roughly £37.50, fully £10 more than I paid for the same kit last week     my anatomy is duly puckering..... I think I need a lie-down in a darkened room   But that offer was an amazing spot!

Looks like I missed the boat (again) I think I may have to get an Airfix Hurricane Mk.I Trop kit just for the Vokes filter Now, what could I do with the rest of it..... a Napier Dagger engine conversion!!! It was meant to be......    

I've always had a soft spot for the Defiant and you've now got me thinking of an RAAF one, but in 1/72.

Airfix do seem to be improving the quality of their kits with each new release and as you've mentioned the fit is becoming such that any paint on joints will cause you problems with fit. The new tool Meteor is almost click and fit in a lot of places, no glue required.

The depth of panel lines is an interesting point. I'm a brush painter and as such was quite happy with the ones on  the Spitfire V and Tempest etc. The Meteor's on the other hand are so fine that they really are not suited to brush painting at all. Still each to his own and it doesn't bother me, I'm just happy with these really nice new tools 

Well, I've ordered the Hurricane Mk.I (Trop).....it was inevitable, I suppose   Looks like the Napier Dagger Hurricane is On!

I reckon an RAAF Defiant would look great. I wonder if CAC could have been persuaded to make an underwing-fitting gun pod carrying, say, a .50 cal Browning. Just to give it a bit of bite to go with the sting in the tail! The Defiant wing was already designed with a hard point for the light stores carrier.

Its good to see Airfix upping their game, although until recently their panel line engraving "tool" seems to have been one size fits all: same depth whatever the scale!  Good that the Meteor is improved. To be fair, panel lines are always going to be a compromise anyway - the real things are almost non-existent so on a model they should be invisible. I've seen great work done with just drawing the lines on lightly with a very fine pencil. Very effective.

Well, I've assembled most of the pilot's cockpit, but hopefully left it so that its not impossible to paint. Its had a coat of Tamiya rattle can primer, as have the cockpit sidewalls. The framework overlays are a great idea by Airfix, the only downside (and not much of one, to be honest) was some flash that needed a careful clean-up. One of the supports for the pilot's seat was short-shot, so I replaced that with a short length of Evergreen styrene rod.

And that's it til I get my airbrush sorted out and a new tin of interior grey green paint!

That's true - probably not! The problem is I have a pet hate of ejector pin marks, they really grind my gears
