My opinions on this build haven't changed one single insi pinsi little micro bit.
What I wrote last time still applies...
Absolutely bloody mind blowingly brilliant 👏 👏 👍 😁😁
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

thanks guys - I'm just glad there is still interest in this super long project

OK, well, I have finished putting in all the panel lines and I am really happy with how they came out. It was a fair amount of work but IMO, worth every minute. I reckon it took a total of about 4- 5 hours to do the whole ship - which given how long its taken me to get this far could be considered mind blowingly fast :)

then you put it all together and you get this:

And finally, the obligatory bridge shot:

Well, that's it for now. I'll continue working on the base until I get some more fiber. I still need to add a clear coat to the ship and then I'll do a small wash in places to bring out more detail but other than that, yeah, the painting side is pretty much done. Open to any suggestions on how to make it better

As always, thanks for continuing to stop in and have a look

Si I'm not saying the word lightspeed could be used in this but yeah lightspeed works here
Still enjoying it bud  ;D

As for bring out much more details have ya considered a pin wash as looking at your pics there's plenty of places it would work very nicely.

oh yeah, a pin wash is exactly what I was intending to do in places. I just need to clear coat it first to protect the pencil etc

Do you think you'll have it ready for this years Model Expo?

Madhatter

sadly no - I was trying to but I ran out of fiber and the remaining stuff I had was the wrong size. Maybe next year

zenrat

What's another year?  Looking forward to it.

A wash applied directly into panel lines with a thin brush.  You only darken where you want to rather than brushing wash across the whole surface.
An example of where you would use a pin wash would be the panel gaps and door openings of a model car.

Ah right, thanks. I can't say I've ever done that.

Doing one of those on that Star Destroyer would only take about 60 yrs.............  :o

Im having second thoughts on the buildings.  Whats your opinion on it? Should I have them or not?

Si

If this is what you're having second thoughts about, this adds, IMHO, some contextual depth.  But it shouldn't, I feel, be like a completely built up cityscape, especially if that's the trench.  Maybe add some 4.5 or 5 inch batteries (if you can find any that small) as heavy turbolasers.

I think you've nailed it there for me - the trench is too big in comparison to the buildings. Sadly, I can't take it out and redo it without doing a lot of damage to the surrounding material.
I'll save the buildings for another project later down the track and rethink the surface details
