My FLHS buys collections of trains..models ..that sort of thing and not long ago Colin ..the owner..brought a pile of model planes ...every kit set had AM parts as well ..I scored a Hobbyboss F8F2 Bearcat with a Eduard PE and Super Decals...that was $40 ..but I got it for $30
Colin came across these and just put em all together and because I've been going there for decades I get special treatment  ;D  ...and epic deals.

Oh.. i get it... Still, what a bargain for that lot!
Good thing that the store's owner gives you good discounts, keeps you coming back to his store. I have the same type of relationship with the Warkit store's owner here in Portugal. Although i've never been to their physical site, by the owner's own words, i'm one of his best clients and he's been very generous with a 20% discount on almost every kit. The Tamiya 1/48 F-35 cost me around 20€ less than the prices on most EU stores, without postage costs included(11-16€), plus i only had to wait a couple of days to have the kit with me as it's a national delivery.
Besides, he always takes the time to look for stuff i want, normally at lower prices than most stores are asking.

BTW, i didn't want to spend more money on models this month but one of the guys from my modelling club was selling the Academy 1/72 F-8P for 15€ and i've been looking for that kit for a while so, couldn't say no to that...  ;D

Oh I get pretty much everything that Colin comes across which he knows to bits and pieces.
It's like one collection he brought..before the old gent passed he was spending upwards of $2000nz a week on HO trains and wagons.
Colin showed me the pics he took and he told me they had to move like 40 boxes of trains just to get into the room which was packed solid.
I don't know if ya know how big a banana box is so I'll tell ya  ;D
It measures 500 L x 400w x 200d ..all millimeters..now imagine hundreds of em..all crammed solid .
Colin had to make 3 trips with a very large furniture trailer just to get it all..9 months later they're still sorting it all.
Out of that I got tons of bit and pieces..tools..balsa..knife blades galore ..all Swan Norton..all for next to nothing.
Hell he gave me 24 packets of the Swan Norton knife blades for nothing
Strangely I buy very few models of them ..it's not their prices..it's my wallet  ;D
This shop is one of those shops where the more you look the more you find ..I brought over 80 model mags of em for a buck each ..not all at once tho and those have proven most useful 👌
I was told yesterday to pop back in 2 weeks as it's very likely they will have something for me ..im kinda worried 😅

:o  that is surely an overwhelming stash... mine is now around 280 unbuilt kits and i think it's madness... I'm trying to stop but them cool kits keep showing up and i can't resist... :banghead:
Well, it's kinda sad that you're getting those deals because another modeller died but, OTOH, it's good that other modellers are getting those deals instead of the stuff being hauled to the local landfill or recycling plant.

My stash distribution get a little bigger today with the arrival of MY TIGERCAT!!!! ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D
Waited so many yrs to get one and now I  have ..words can't express how happy I am..well they probably could but I be bothered 😅

Couldn't agree more Doggy mate..his passing is helping me in a huge way forward my model building and I've already used some damn cool parts on at least 4 builds so far .
It's always sad with a fellow modeller passing away and sadly there's nothing we can do to stop that but using his items  keeps him building models from beyond cause even tho I never met this gent I do think of him when I'm going thru all these bits so his memory never dies .
Ahhh enjoying a lovely coffee ☕️ 😋 after spending 4 hrs welding today ..so so good 👍 😍

Still more models on there way to me ..scored another MK19 Spitfire and I didn't know it but I won a auction for another MK19 ..the first one is a C model and the second is a E model ..ive got 5 Spitfires now 😋😊

Might be an idea to double check which version of Spitfire you have as the Mk.19 was a Photo Reconnaissance aircraft and the C or E designations were for armament type and layout in the wings.

The good thing Al is C has the more traditional Spitfire canopy and the E has the tear drop canopy..im going to be removing the engines on both of the C's for my Tigercat.
It's possible the D will be used for a very serious wiffy build so we'll see what happens there.
I'm not going to wiffy my MK24..it's to nice a model..it's a Airfix kitset and it's stunning...all the others are Academy.

You can never have too many Spitfires!!!!!

My latest acquisitions arrived last night: two Hobby Boss Fw190D-9 kits from Amazon at a crazy-good price. I've got a touch of Fw190-itis, as I've also scored a Dragon A-5 Special with the Hermann Graf markings from evilBay and I'm looking at some Italeri Dragon re-boxes. Not sure quite why as the last Wurger I built was the 72nd-scale Matchbox kit when I was about twelve, so just over 40 years ago!

Cheers,
Mark

I used to think I had a lot, at around 90+, but Lee has them by the HUNDRED!  :o

A slim package from the Big H with some decals etc. for the F-35D

Nor your ordinary type decals, I'll have to print those myself, these are the thick decals for instrument panels etc, in this case by Quinta (?) but they look pretty good. Such a pity I've already glued the cockpit in place, but with a bit of a fiddle I should be able to use most of them.

Also an Eduard sheet of masking for those blasted RAM panels that I've just spent 3 days filing and sanding off! No, I'm not sure why I got the masking stuff, but that was before I thought of the colour scheme that it's going to have. I may use a few bits of it, and it'll be handy if I do a more RW F-35.

I for one will be interested in how you get on with the Quinta 3D-printed cockpit decals. I'm thinking of getting some for my Fw190D-9s that keep turning up inexplicably..... They certainly look very nice but how well do they perform in action? Looking forward to seeing!

True, you can never have enough Spitfires but you can run out of space in which to store them.
Actually, the first statement isn't quite right, as you can have lots of Spitfire kits that are crap, the Academy mk 14 abortion or the Xtrakit mk 22 horror.  It should actually be "You can never have enough good Spitfire kits", and I have many - I estimate about 200 Airfix red boxings of various marks, and about 100 Eduard.  I don't have everything in one location to do a proper inventory, but 500 would  probably be near about right.

Wardukw, the C and E refer to the type of wing on a particular mark.  The C wings were all highbacks, but many mk IX, XVI and XIV highbacks had the E wing.  All of the low back teardrop canopy aircraft had the E wing, as the oxygen bottles were relocated to one of the redundant outer gun bays.  There were no C wing lowbacks, other than the Seafire XVII.
