I to will be interested to see how they perform. I've was disappointed with those that were included in the SR 1/A boxing. The Eduard ones I used on the Meteor were better, but still not worth the outlay in my opinion, plus it was only the panel that was 3D, the belts were etch.  For now I'll be sticking with Yahoo etch for cheap and easy panels 

The Quinta belts are made from the same 'thick decal' stuff, although the instructions are a trifle vague about how they go on. I'm not sure if I'm meant to soak them in water first as they go on to say they have to be glued in place with PVA or Klear.

Hmmm, that's not very helpful, is it? Oddly enough, I read "something somewhere" recently where the builder mentioned gluing on with PVA and I thought it was a bit strange

I think the jury is out on how best to apply them. The ones I've used have been treated as standard transfers, soaked until they were loose on the backing paper, slid onto the part and then coated with Klear.

@PR19_Kit and @NARSES2 I did a Google search and came up with this "how-to" Quinta 3D Decals review which makes them seem pretty straightforward. I think I'll be ordering a couple of sets from the big H to try out!

That's interesting. There were no instructions with the ones I've used so far, or very minimal in the case of the Eduard ones. To be honest it's the need to sand down all the raised detail first that puts me off when it comes to the ones I've used. As said the Yahoo panels are simply drop in's, however the Quinta ones do have a lot more useful bits and pieces so I may well give them a try. Although in 1/72 it's not always worth it 

As an aside I'm not 100% sure all these companies producing 3D "Decals" are using the same materials, but that's based on extremely limited experience of using them.

Hmm, yes. I just read that all through and while it's very informative there were two negative points.

1) He didn't use them as a decal, but dried them off and glued them in place, so we still don't know if you can place them like decals.

2) They're RUSSIAN! I may not have bought them had I known that before......

I'll try some of mine as if they're normal decals and see how they stick down.

The way I read it, the answer is no. They're printed on decal paper and there the similarity to waterslide decals ends. That's my interpretation, anyway, FWIW!

I found the instruction sheet that came with mine eventually (hidden between two layers of packing....) and they're the same as the ones he posted in the review. It sort of hints that they MIGHT stick on like decals, but I'm not sure I trust them.

I've scraped the raised detail off the panels etc. and it would have been a lot easier before I'd put it all together of course, but you live and learn.

On other fronts, the 2nd level of PSR has taken place on the starboard wing and it's looking quite good. I think I'll haven to super glue the extensions in place though as they're not too keen on staying connected with only the Contacta glue.

The Wgr 42, could be the Wgr 21 and the SN-2 aerials are for the Ju88 as I have decals by Qwl (OWLDS72011) for an aircraft carrying them, slight problem being the canopy provided in the kit has the singe rear cockpit gun while the decal instructions show two. Reserch is required me thinks.

I can help here, as I've a spare two gun rear for the Hasegawa kit, as the A-4 I have is going to be converted to an S, with a spare nosecone and a single gun canopy from a G that's going to become a 388L-0, but with Jumo 213s rather than BMW801s.
