Every time I see those Firebee kits I get ideas about scaleoramaing one into 1/72 but i'm not sure how big they are.
You wouldn't have a 1/72 pilot figure you could photograph next to the Firebee fuselage halves would you?

Please and Thank You.

They're small, greatest fuselage depth is 41.56", scale-o-rama to 1/72nd that would give a real world
measurement of 62.34". The main problem is where you'd put a pilot as the deepest area is in way of
the engine.

I think the photo of the kids is usable as a guide to relative size of pilot to airframe of a 1/48 to 1/72
scale-o-rama KD-1A.

But the engine wouldn't need to be that large. in scale anyway.....................
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Just arrived from the BIG yellow H

1 x 1/72 A & A Models7229 Hawk 200 ZJ201

I have unpacked the kit and looked at the plastic as I am sure several people here would be interested in either this or the other two boxings of the model that A & A have proposed or are about to be released. THe engraved panel lines are very nice and are sharp and thin. The box contains as appears to be usual for A & A Models, to have a photo etch detail set and masks for the canopy. The weapons options are reasonable for the aircraft as a demonstrator which the decal sheet caters for four options oof ZJ201's markings throughout it's life as a demonstrator. The design of the sprues means you end up with two under fuselage gun pods and two smoke or baggage pods where only one of either would be carried. Whihle talking about guns, the fuselage has the bulge for the optional gun pack which I have no idea if it ever carried guns. Would I buy another, probably, but it would have the be the Indonesian/Malaysian A.F. boxing to save on after market decals.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Mossie

They're 10.7cm, adding some metric to Jon's figures, that's 7.78m in 1/72 .  Fairly small, but might work for a twin boom, that's why I included the Mistral.  It's a metre less than a Yak-15, to which it'd compare with a slight an extension.  It'd be pretty large in 1/44.

Other possible ideas:
Engine pod and boom for a twin boom 1/72 aircraft (if anyone needs ideas for the Re-engine It GB.  You could also do this with the Plus Model 1/72 kits for an in-scale Marboré/J69 (or the ICM kits
Side pods for an aircraft, in scale or scalorama'd as above
Secondary hull for a Federation Starship
Star Wars Naboo skiff

Both ICM and Plus Model do the longer and skinnier BQM-34A.

One more I forgot, competitor or Soviet version of the XF-85, it'd be a bit longer than the Goblin.

Photos are a bit misleading as the Firebee and Lightning Bug fuselages are the same depth, through the engine area, and width.
The various fuselage stretches make the latter series look skinnier.

Picked the below 2 model kits from my model club's auction today. The Pegasus Hydrofoil for $10 and the SV-22 Osprey for $5. Good deals.
The SV-22 was an anti-submarine variant that was never produced.
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

Good scores matey 👍
I'm trying to get my hands on a 48th V-22 ..a wrecked one would be fine but can ya find one without getting a mortgage?..nope.

Thanks for that Alistair

Thanks Mossie & Jon.

Smaller than I thought.  To build what I am picturing in 1/72 i'd need a 1/24 Firebee.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

You could always build it as something the pilot is only semi-recessed into, or even riding (a-la Slim Pickens), rather than having a full cockpit?

Just won a auction for this

Another twin to go into the stash  ;D

Another ICM 1:72 Kawasaki Ki-10 (via Ev!lby), to be converted into "something else" after a nice inpsiration/suggestion by a fellow modeler at flickr.
