I was tought to type at school as well. I can even touch type, just not very well.  It becomes very much similarto what Eric Morecambe once said if I type fast, "All the right notes, just not necessarily in the right order!" Just substitute Notes for Letters

The first computer I got was the first time I used a keyboard to type..was I slow ?..yep ..snail pace 
The moment I got my first ergonomic keyboard things really ramped up in speed...cause of the size of my shoulders and arms a normal keyboard was bloody annoying to use.

I can wear the letters off the keys of most keyboards inside 3-4 months. My old laptop, which is lurking underneath the keyboard with which I'm writing this, hasn't had any visible letters for the last 3-4 years. I just buy new cheapie USB keyboards and plug them in to the laptop, until they wear out of course.

And no, don't tell me about the wonderful (and expensive....) top quality keyboard that you've got that's lasted for YEARS because I've tried them all and I can wear ALL of them out.

They should use me a keyboard fatigue test engineer!

Ahhh but I hear you ask why my super duper keyboard has lasted so long??
Bugger all use is the answer 
Since there's no hard line internet here at the camp ..I use the net on my phone and that keyboard just sits there gathering dust.
Hell my PC hasn't been turned on for at least a year now...I use my laptop for everything now.

slightly off topic here - keyboards and Star Destroyers alike, I'm already thinking of my next project and this is something I have in mind:

Er ... Yes!  

More fins not less.  And a big glowing engine at the back and swarms of single seat fighters launching from it.

I like the idea of turning the spaceship back into a sea vessel.  Definitely a great whiff idea.

My thoughts exactly. I could easily make a flying battleship but I thought it'd be cool to try it the other way around and I haven't seen anyone do this. Not that that haven't - I just haven't seen it.
Still, better not get too far ahead of myself and just get this current project finished. 

The bottom layer is now pretty much ready for painting. I just need to add some PE ladders to the frame work and it'll be done. Then to make the top layer which will be pretty much the same as whats on the bottom. I'll add in some lighting too to both layers  - just for added interest









The next update should see some paint on it! Getting closer to the end - sort of
