Brad C (Chronic) came up with the idea of a civilian gunship that would improve mountain safety by starting avalanches.
The same end result could be achieved using a light aircraft equipped with small bombs.

I shall be building a Hobby Boss Zlin Z-142 to which I shall be adding skis and bomb racks

The kit is mostly moulded in clear for some reason and has a total of fourteen parts.  Box on the right is the kit parts, box on the left are a selection of parts I may add.

A couple of hours work resulted in this.

Yes, it's Wonder Woman's plane.
;)
This is just a mock up.  Canopy and upper fuselage half are not glued in place.
Black stuff in the nose is heavy glue and two fishing weights held between scratchbuilt bulkheads.
Here it is back apart again.

White thing is the beginning of a scratchbuilt front ski.  I did have one from the same kit as the two main skis but while modifying it the knife blade snapped and the part vanished.

I never realised that Wonder Woman's plane was a Zlin! :o

Wow that's tiny? The display stand should include a magnifying lens!

I liked this little kit when I did it,
surprisingly transparent;-)

Well, it's invisible:rolleyes:

Sweet project - curious if you mamage to get the Zlin onto its three feet. When I built mine many moons ago, I cramped the nose with lead beads and it still fell over...  :-\

Day 2.

Tests show it should not tail sit (but we've all said that in the past and been proved wrong).  The skis will help.

Today, after removing some styrene that was preventing the upper fuselage from sitting correctly on the lower (due to my added bulkheads and ballast) I primed the interior - Tamiya due to the clear styrene reacting with my usual cheap rattle can primer last time I built one of these.
After that had dried I painted the interior.  A nice vibrant blue to match the IP transfer.
I also carved a new nose wheel ski.

One of the issues with moulding most of this in clear is that there are mould separation lines which do not show up until there is primer on them.

My thought train as well and exactly what I did my version of this kit up as for a Model Shop group build

Keep it going Fred...

Can you make the front ski out of lead? Or the metal figure material? It would help.

Painted some stuff, sanded other stuff, and did some masking.
Glued the fuselage top and bottom together.

Day 4.

No photo today.

Completed painting the crew.
Wedged the undercarriage legs in place to check for tail sitting - there is none.
Decided the area behind the seats looked a little bare so I had a rummage in a parts box to find a radio set to sit there.
Primed the bombs and painted the bomb racks.

That looks VERY organised Fred, with all the bits all stashed neatly in one box. I'm impressed.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Yeah. Very UN-whiffy! What should the sanction for being neat?
Pretty little thing anyway.  ;)
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

I'm sure we can establish a committee to decide on one.  ;)

I store all my current builds in old kit boxes.  I keep a collection specially for the purpose.
I have to do this as there are so many started builds scattered around my work area they would get confused otherwise.

Anyway.

Day 5.

Again no photos.

Glued the crew to their seats and then the canopy to the fuselage.
Went to work early due to sick colleague (very thoughtless of her - doesn't she know I have models to build?).
Came home and undercoated the whole thing before walking the dog.

Same way I work, although I find biscuit and chocolate tins & boxes from Christmas come in handy as well.
