You guys already know what's happening here ..2 Griffons..1 Tigercat.
The idea for is all Kits fault but a fault in a great way...in a twisted sort of way I would kinda make sense that the RN would want a heavy figther with engines they have plenty of and are powering many of their aircraft.
With the amazing Hornet being basically this idea made real but what if De Havilland had a huge problem of some sort..possibly a fire which destroyed their factory ( no loss of life) and a stop gap aircraft was needed urgently.
Now the Tigercat was one very fast plane and packing 4 20mm cannon and 4 .50cal machine guns it's got plenty of bang going for it but since the RN was getting away from aircraft with US radial engines ..re engineering it with new engines would make sense for the RN as it has now become.

Now re working these engines to work with the model is now what we'd call hard by any means..making everything look good will be..it has to flow especially where the wings landing gear goes and with the Griffons being a lot slimmer than the radial this will be fun   :o
And yep it's getting the five bladed props

Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

A "cheat" on a Griffon engined Tigercat would be annular radiators and the V-12 exhausts added to the F7F
cowlings.

Hush my good sir  ;D
I'm gonna cheat cheat the hell out of this .. a quick build ..the mutant P-38 I have in mind will take alot longer to build so I want to keep this rather simple ..still looking good but ..well simple in my terms anyway

As usual, it's all MY fault......  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Honestly I couldn't think of a good idea to wiffy this plane..yours was a great idea matey and prefect..and better yet ..I didn't have to rack my head to come up with it
Griffon power..5 bladed props 👏.
Ya know it's actually going to make this look far sleaker too..another benefit  ;D
As faults go..this one is a awesome one 😀😀
Keep em coming 😁

At this point no idea at all but very likely inside the wings ..in between the fuselage and the engines

Sounds reasonable
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

perttime

Yep. Inside the wings would keep the lines clean. Installation in the nacelles would require some sort of protruding intakes (I think).

Wardukw

Mounting the radiators in the wings is basically the coolest (no pun ;) ) to put them ..but man that's gonna be some pretty careful PSR I can tell ya.

You can hunt down a cheap Shackleton kit (ex Frog) for suitable engine nacelles and twin-props.  ;)

Wardukw

Dizzy I was looking at a Shackleton only yesterday  ;D  ...a brand new 72nd Airfix one..yeah totally wrong scale but funny how you mentioned that 😄
With my luck trying to find a 48 scale Shackleton cheap it would be a miracle..something I would definitely not hold ya breath on .

Does anyone even MAKE a 1/48 Shackleton?  :o
