I've no idea if I'll be able to finish this in time, but I'm going to try. I've got a Revell 1/72 ADV and a decent idea of how I can convert it to a Tornado 2000.

I was hoping someone would do this one.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Sounds cool. I'll be watching.

Great idea.  I'd considered it but I think it's more work than I want to tackle right now.  Can't wait to see yours!
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Take one Tornado F3 front fuselage and take off corners with band saw !  :-\

Looking forward to seeing this one Harro

Progress:

Building a framework for the new skin panels. The artist impressions I've found of the Tornado 2000 show different configurations, so I figured I've got some leeway for interpretation. I've decided to try and use flat panels as much as possible, rather than the slightly curved panels seen in the impressions.

This will go on hold for a while. Tonight I found again that the bits I've made are not straight/too small/off-center/not glued on right etc. I've already redone the entire nose once, so I've had enough for now.

Yup sometimes you just need to take a breather from a kit
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Where's the Tornado 2000 model? We all want to see completed & we would be extremely excited to see it completed.

I've done some work on it this spring:

Since then I've filled in the nose, and done most of the work on the intakes.

Very interesting! Looking forward to more of this one!

one more progress shot:

I covered the basic structure in putty, as I was unable to get a decent finish otherwise. However the putty layer made it really difficult to create flat surfaces, so some of the edges came out a little more crooked than I'd hoped.

Photos of the (almost) finished product:

The loadout is incomplete: there's room on the left wing for another pylon. I was unable to get that done before Telford, I'll add that later.

I like the whole idea, and the look of that.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model
