LOL! Work of the devil!
Airbrush is the tool of Satan!! I saw the light and, abandoned my airbrush about 25 years ago! I reverted to the religion of the great god - Hairystick! ;)  ;D
Hates rivet counters! Eats JMNs for breakfast!

The Devil has the best music so why shouldn't she also have the top tools?

If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Haven no fear, NO airbrushing will occur on the F-35D, when I get around to finding my missing batch of Hataka paints to do the rest of the camo.. It'll all be brush painted, with the possible exception of those ugly white weapon and landing gear bays anyway.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

White is without a doubt the worst colour to paint with a brush..spraying white is great as it covers surprisingly well..brushing it ??..well it might as well be clear for how annoying it is.

Yellow's not much fun with a hairy stick, either.
Has a life outside of What-If & wishes it would stop interfering!

Yellow's a bugger however you apply it.
So easy to get different parts looking different shades despite carefully counting coats.

Yup, but it's far better if placed on top of a very pale pink undercoat. No idea why, but it works

I just spotted this on Scalemates, seems perfect for your model:

You cannot view this attachment.

Assuming you can still get a figure into the cockpit, of course ...
... I know all this and more ...

I beg to differ: red and yellow are a lot worse than white, in my experience. About the only way to get either to cover properly is to spray them over a colour underneath that helps them maintain their colour — white is OK for yellow, for red I would probably try a light brown or something. Brush-painting smaller areas, I tend to use sand first for either.

Instead of just models try painting white on real things..ive sprayed and hand painted dozens of things with it..painting window frames with red and yes yellow  :o  and with a simple primer which it seems is always white red and yellow covers very nicely ..ive had to paint frames up to 4 times for them to be completely covered and trust me ..ive painted alot of buildings..good paying work .
As for vehicles ..ive sprayed dozens..cars..bikes..earthmovers..earthmovers are pretty sweet cause we use a 2 Pak epoxy paint for them and yes I have sprayed some in white ..ive sprayed cars in white primer for red and yellow top coats and just by tinting the primer you can change how the red and yellow looks without tinting the paint..it's a simple trick so you don't bugger your primary colour if you can afford to replace it.
Prime with white..then yellow or orange and gold top coats..the gold will blow your mind ..gladly im not into gold ..not my colour.
If I spray a model with white I can hairy brush red and yellow quite well ..but only white matt..the paint has something to grab onto .
It also depends on paint brands ..Humbrol white sucks be it matt or gloss..Tamiyas not any better and here in NZ those were the only ones you could get in the early days ..all the great stuff we now have didn't exist...yet Humbrols acrylic rail colours range I freaking love those..and slowly I'm getting that whole range ..only 5 more colours to hunt down and then ive got all 24 of em and alitte while back I was able to score 3 more pots of RC401 dirty black..as usual with this country..nobody imports here now when they used to.

It's all in the amount of pigment.
I used to be a building labourer and have painted a lot of bare, new drywall.
We'd use the cheap white trade paint (cheap because it didn't have much pigment in it) as an undercoat to get the plasterboard and filler sealed but it didn't cover worth a damn so we'd then use the good stuff (more pigment - costs more) to give a consistent colour finish.  It was always white.  We'd paint everything white and then the customers could decide on a colour once we'd handed it over.
Hardest thing to cover was graffiti painted on the bare walls - usually some smart ar5ed young labourer painting his name in big letters with the first coats of paint <ahem>.
You only ever did it once.
I once painted the same room seven times in five days with white emulsion - walls and (sloped) ceiling.  That was fun.
I then painted all the woodwork white.  And the next day picked all the black dog hairs off the paint, suggested they kept the English Setter OUT of the room, sanded it back and did it all again.
This was the same house where having turned off the power at the main switch to remove an electrocuted mouse from a power point (located by smell!) I put a screwdriver into the socket innards and got a huge bowel loosening flash.
At which point the Loth (Lady of the house) stuck her head through the doorway and said "i thought i'd make you all a cup of tea but the power was off so I turned it back on again but now the kettle has just stopped working again..."

I'm sorry I know I shouldn't, but you are still alive and it is funny   ;D  ;D
