Cool tail implant, respect!

Anybody know what shade of red CalFire uses? I've been looking around and find lots of pics but no mention of actual colors.

Ken from what I can find it's called Calfire red ..code is FLNA32861 .
Also seems Fire engine red is pretty much bang on the money to.

In some pics it looked orange and some more red. Now the USFS chopper is International Orange but in many pics looks red. Lots of confusion going by the pics.

Oh man light can play havoc with what you see ..I saw these pics of this 4 12in subwoofer install in the back of a MK4 Toyota Supra..from the pics you'd swear it was chrome sliver...nope..super high gloss black..mirror finish..beautiful work 😀
With yours if ya go fire engine red then your gonna be pretty damn safe ..colour wise.

I was just looking at this build and realized I could have made a high wing by simply turning it upside down. Pass  off the engines as turbo props and flip the tail fins. Hmmmm...... If I see another kit something might happen....

Don't ya hate that..a better idea and it's to late to do anything about it without a total rebuild.

I was just considering how to build one. I think I would use something other than a helicopter cabin when I do.

Ya got me thinking now Ken....the chopper fuselage shape is pretty sweet for thus sort of build ...now I'm trying to figure what would be better but not cost a fortune to use as a wiff.

Just off the top of my head I was thinking about a Learjet or Cessna Citation forward fuselage.

Was thinking that too...the Lear is a great start ..my only real concern was how available those are as kitsets .
I know Cessnas are easy to get ..just don't buy em from here.

A little update. Things don't look much different but thin layers of putty have been applied to really smooth some things out. The windscreen is in using Elmers clear glue. There were some gaps in the edges of the windscreen which I filled with Elmers. I should be able to smooth it out tomorrow.



Here's the underside. It looks the same but much smoother. Biggest problem was the cast with the UV resin came out a little lumpy. So I had to use putty to fill divots. The putty was softer than the UV resin so it sanded away faster leaving low spots.



Here's a little tool I found at the local big box store.



It wasn't even in the automotive section, just in with the regular 120 grit paper. I should have bought several as it will be gone when I wear this one out. It works well on the jobs a little too big for all the nail files I use.

Hopefully I can get to painting soon. I'll be at my Reserve squadron reunion picnic for the weekend and hopeful get up to the big EAA fly in at Oshkosh Wisconsin on Friday. I haven't been there for years so this will be exciting. The USAF brought in a B-52 this year and others I'm sure so I'll try to get a few pics. Warbird Digest has a farce book page with tons of photos.

Here's a problem I was hoping someone could help out with. On the real Firewatch Cobras the side windows are outrageously bulged outward to allow the crew to see better towards the ground just below the aircraft.



To recreate this I was hoping someone might have a spare canopy I could use to start making a mold from. The other problem is since I started this 4 years ago I've forgotten what kit the Whiskey Cobra is.
