Got to admit I tend to go on minor (sometimes major) splurges of Wombat Stash additions whenever the mojo is down. Not sensible, perhaps even rather contrary, but it makes me feel better.

Different builds on the plate for the time being, as we're building a woodshed/storage at the cottage. So far, it's been an uncannily smooth affair, but I'm too old and experienced to let my guard down. Give that Murphy a finger...

Apart from receiving the already disclosed Evilbay gains, there hasn't been as much as a whiff (pun so intended!) of plastic modelling for a while. Rather, there's been some wood work. This is where we're currently at with the shed project:

We're getting there, as can be seen, the main outstanding items being doors and corners. The latter will be a swift affair, but the doors may take a bit longer as their main structure will have to be constructed out of beams split, then turned and flipped before being reattached to each other again, all this to prevent from later bending and twisting. Boring work, comparatively, as basically all the other steps so far has been immediately rewarding, but it has to be done. A shed isn't a shed unless you can close a door. Or two, as it happens.

But actually, it's been easier than expected, getting this far, and I'm pretty chuffed that so much of what I learned from hanging out with my old dad actually still is recoverable from the otherwise so sporadically available depths of my memory. And I have a strong feeling he would have approved of the project, being an avid fixer in his own right back in the day. After all, he built the main house on the property back in -62, and I've kept faithfully to the exterior design he chose at that time. It's a good feeling, even if I really would have liked him to be able to see it. Maybe he is, by the way. Death is, as far as I have come to understand it, more a transition than a dead end. Also this pun much intended.

Someone may wonder about the long roof overhang at the rear of the shed. While one could have suspected it's due to me being too lazy to cut the corrugated roofing sheets, it's actually on purpose, namely to facilitate some winter protection for our two small fishing kayaks that will be hanging on the wall once the season's over.

So despite having shaped a lot of material - no modelling. I did however have a quick look-through of the Trumpy Fulcrum SMT I got the other day, and as they seem to always do, also this kit looks very professionally executed. It'll probably go together very nicely once I get there.

But not this coming week, I suspect. Those doors...

Not much done today to show off, but the structural parts of the doors are now glued and screwed together. With some luck, they'll be ready to build from on Thursday.
Also, external painting is mostly sorted, even if some components, such as the corners, will need a second layer eventually. But that's then.

Having given another blood sample (welcome to the world of cancer patients  ), me and the much prettier half of the family decided on having a brew rather than stressing on with the doors to that shed. That gave me the opportunity to surf a bit on this and that, and mainly on modelling. I am feeling a slight tickling in the mojo nerve again, so if I now just can kill that shed off...
