There's a limit as to how much insane detail I can put on/in a model. The detail I put in is dictated by the references I have on the subject as well as the resources (Money, Spare parts, etc.) I have. Money definately being a factor. :( I can't afford all the photoetch, 3D parts, and other aftermarket accessories that other people can. This is why I try to use what I've already got at home and scratch build.
But the most limiting factor in how much detail I can put in/on a model is my eyesight.which is pretty bad. It may not look like it from all the pics I've posted so far, but it is. Trust me. ;)
But what I lack in references, resources, and eyesight, I more than make up for with creativity and imagination.  ;D

I have to agree. I don't know what most of it is, but it's very impressive

That's why I always say in my posts and threads is that if anybody has questions on anything..........ANYTHING..........then just ask and I'll explain as best I can.
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

Here's some more "unhidden" images of my stealth aircraft carrier. Not the best pics as I have a crappy camera and even worse crappier photography skills.  :banghead:
The island superstructure is only sitting on the flight deck. It is not glued on.
These pics give a rough interpretation of what my carrier will look like. Though I still have much more work to go yet on the starboard aft side and the port aft side, as well as the starboard amidships side.
You can definately see all the white areas/portions that were added and scratch built.

Looking good!

Don't have any 1/350 F-35's for the deck, or saving them for later?

F-35Cs of course............  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I bought these several years ago. Should be enough. :) Ten packages. Two F-35C's per package. 20 total.
But that's just for starters. I'll have plenty of other aircraft types on the flight deck as well.

Photos look great. Do you think you will have it done by October? My club, IPMS Duneland will have our contest on October 14th. Need to give our club ship guy some competition!

By October 14th? Not likely. This is a big project. I'm trying to shoot for a completion time to get this done for the IPMS Nationals next year in Madison, WI on July 17-20, 2024. The main theme for that Nationals is "All American Red, White, & Blue" which I think (and hope) my carrier would fit nicely since it's named the USS United States.
Earlier target dates could be (but again doubtful) in mid-May 2024 for a model ships & boats contest in Manitowoc or the Mad City Model Contest normally held in Madison in March 2024.
But I don't want to rush this model project to try and meet either of those two dates. When I rush things, that's when I make mistakes and that's not good.
Indiana is too far for my modeling friend to drive. I don't drive due to bad eyesight, so I hitch a ride with a friend. But the contests we go to are mostly in southeast Wisconsin or northeastern Illinois. That's about it.
But if your club ship guy wants some competition, I'm up for the challenge.............sometime and somewhere.

I think he was at NIMCON in Crystal Lake this year but I didn't make it.  I saw your two battleships the year before, awesome stuff!

Another update. Before I get to working on the port and starboard aft weapon sponson areas and/or the aft flight deck section, I have instead been working on creating and adding a stern docking station to my model.............with varying degrees of success.  :banghead:  Building it has not been easy as I wasn't sure I had the right spare parts I needed. But...........things slowly came together and worked out ok in the end. Hope to have another pic maybe on Sunday with the stern docking station fully attached to the aft end of the model.

And a little bit more progress. The stern docking station is done. Thank God! What a nightmare building that was.  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:
And I finally decided what the lower hull color will be. It's blue.   ;)
As I said in one of my pics below, if I'm going to build/have a what if future fleet, I might as well keep all the ships the same hull color.
I don't know about anybody else, but I think a what if future battleship, destroyer, and aircraft carrier might look nice together. ;)
