Hey all

I recently got elected to build this kit as part of an upcoming "competition" (not very serious thankfully), so this has been a slight switch up to my usual subjects. I have to say - I thoroughly enjoyed putting this together and decided to have just as much painting it. Using Tamiya X-19, X-69 and one of the many Gunze German greys (I can't remember exactly which one ATM)

The rules are pretty basic - OOB only. No Aftermarket decals  or detail sets etc. No masks. Nothing - just what comes in the box. Not even allowed to lead add wires. I bent the rules slightly by stretch some sprue for the antenna - well, it came from the box after all.

You can paint it in whatever scheme you like so I did. I just stuck tape down where I thought I should go and that was that. I really like how it came out in the end. I finally got to put to use some relatively newly acquired weathering skills from YouTube and they paid off IMO.

What do you guys reckon?

Well, that was just heaps of fun and it felt good to go outside my usual subject matter. Great kit. Not a single issue at all. There's something to be said about some of the older Tamiya kits
Anyways, thanks for looking in

I reckon I need to give up modelling! :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

You get "elected" to build a kit in a field that is outside the norm for you & you do a better job than I do in that genre & it IS my field! :o  :o  :o

Flippin' excellent work, Si!

For some reason I particularly like all the pioneer tools.  Especially the saw.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I was elected via outcome of a hard fought game of rock paper scissors if that matters  ;D

Nope, but at least it was an honest election! ;)

looks darned good
the camo pattern and the tools, make it pop off the screen, in the best of ways. the only things i would add were some kill rings on the barrel, and a name,  and possibly not even the former.

take off and nuke the site form orbit, nope, time for the real thing, CAM and gridfire, call special circumstances.

I'm rather taken by the hatchet and bolt cutters myself
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Believe it or not, I actually had a go at painting some wood grain on them.  I'll have another go at thay one day and try do a better job

Dizzyfugu

That's looking very good.  '

You might also add some pigments to the lower areas simulate dust, it looks pretty "clean"?

Beautiful work Hatter mate..I nice modern take on a very old kit 😀
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Looks very good! Your random camo really fits it well. And the tools look great. Everyone forgets the tools can be a number of different colors besides the vehicle.
When I was active duty we had spray cans of OD green. OD = over dirt! It didn't match anything but that's what the tools and other miscellaneous pieces got painted. I also had a pair of non regulation fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view mirror that was green with black dots.
