The Consolidated OA-10C Sprite (nicknamed 'big cat') was a Development of the famous PBY-5. It was created to meet the requirements of 'Operation Gunboat' which followed in the successful footsteps of Operation Gunship with the addition requirements of amphibious landing capabilities and the ability to mount ordinance on the wing.
The modifications made to the OA-10 airframe included twin 20mm cannon in the nose turret, fixed twin 20mm cannon in the nose, modern avionics, uprated engines and four-bladed props, the addition of a pair of GE J-82 engines with closable intake doors, four weapons hard-points and two electronic hard-points where a jamming pod and FLIR systems are installed. There were also twin mini guns fitted to flexible mounts in the waist blisters.
The Sprite entered combat in and around Vietnam from 1967 onwards. It was used for a variety of roles including traditional gunship duties as well as search and rescue, transport of special forces, reconnaissance and forward battle control.

I wish the pics were better cause I can see doodoo on my phone 😆
That's a bugger because this is a very cool looking build 😎
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

If you click on an image, it gets larger (on computers at least...)
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

Very interesting idea, with a lovely aircraft, sorely underwhiffed.

Yeah, I like the concept! Inspiring me to do something like a Turbo propped version of a gunship Dumbo.

I'm sorry you're having issues viewing the photos, but they also sharpen up if you click on them on my phone too  :o

I like the whole concept if a Viet-Nam era Catalina.

And the model looks magnificent in that scheme and with the big fin too.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Right now to the matter at hand ...your build .

Great weathering on the hull ..the extended fused MK82s are a nice touch and I take it those are 20mm cannon in the nose ?  ;D
I'm surprised you didn't arm the side blisters ..but if they don't open ..what can ya do

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Dizzyfugu

That's looking good, the SEA scheme suits the Cat well! It could have used some turboprops (from a Herc, maybe?) for a total modernization program, though?

Not on my computer either.
I have to right click on each one and then choose to open it separately.
Maybe i'll look at them later.  I'm sure your model is very nice.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

No idea how to fix the fuzzy photos, sorry.
Thank you very much for the kind comments! There are actually two scratch built mounted miniguns in the blisters, you can't really see them in the pictures but at least I know they're there  ;D

Radial-only take-offs & landings on water, obviously.

Nicely done, sir!

I'm guessing the 20mm's were a bit of a struggle to fit into the turret (I know they were on my Avro Winchester's Lancaster turrets).
Has a life outside of What-If & wishes it would stop interfering!

I like the guns in the nose , hahah and woodland camo for a waterplane , yes , very well !
It's a Land Rover, NOT a Jeep . Like a Jeep, but for gentlemen.
