The Wooksta!

Given the prices of many of the rarer 32nd car kits on eBay, you'd be looking at a three figure sum.

A few years ago I sold a 1/32 Airfix Jaguar 420 on ebay, and two guys fought it up to £80+.  :o

That's just stupid! :o

I bought one not long ago for AU$32.50 (£16.58) - & I thought that was a tad expensive!

Saw the exact same thing on trademe here too..was a fight for a 35th scale Dragon LAPD Hughes 500 chopper..went to $116 nz .
This was about 10yrs ago and I could have gone to Hobbycity and bought one brand new for $59nz

That was crazy.

I'm convinced that sometimes you get two people fighting over something on E-Bay etc and it's nothing to do with the value of the object but rather becomes a contest between two people neither of whom is prepared to be beaten ?  :banghead:
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I think you're right. Some years ago (before they were reissued) I put a couple of original 1966 Airfix Concorde kits  for sale, one of them being the Air France boxing. Both had the original 13/6 (67.5 pence) price on the box.I didn't really expect much so, I put them for auction at a starting price of £5 each.  They eventually went for £67 (BOAC)and, £73 (Air France). I was quite astonished. Bids were between £10- £15 until the last day when my notifications started going crazy, especially in the last few minutes as two buyers frantically tried to outbid each other. I don't think either would have been satisfied as, they only got one each! ;D .

Needless to say, I was delighted but, very surprised at the final bids.

That's REALLY crazy! Those 1966 Airfix Concordes weren't all that good kits anyway, the starboard wing had too much incidence if built OOB. And the recent re-hash STILL had the same fault!

We sold, on evil-bay, some plastic rings Mrs z had saved from her youth which we found in a tin.  They had been given away in breakfast cereal.  Each one had a different football team logo printed on an inset piece of cardboard.

We had 8.  We listed them all individually and when they all sold we totalled over $700.  Strange what some people want.

I wonder how many of the Infantry set they would have sold...

Did you notice the figure in the corner seems to be a Brit? Or at least has a Lee Enfield...

He's Puerto Rican, and carrying an M1.  Its a cropped and flipped image of the Puerto Rican 65th Infantry Regiment's bayonet charge against the Chinese.

As an aside, I remember seeing a print of this painting hanging in Teaneck Armory, with other prints of Army National Guard units.

Sorry, I meant the figure in the Bottom Left corner by the wording 'Actual Size'.

Yes, that's a No. 4 for certain, the later version Lee Enefield with the exposed barrel etc. I used to fire them, a lot.................
