No. Many explosives, including regular old fashioned dynamite, can actually be thrown into a furnace without exploding. It's a kinetic impact that kicks them off - not heat.

I'm sure there are substances that will burn very interestingly, but bog standard rock blasting semtex sticks wont be any fun at all. They barely burn, actually..

GIs in Vietnam used to heat rations with burning pieces of C4. So I've been told. Those ERA boxes must be welded very well.

The Iraqi ERA boxes in the Gulf were empty, I recall hearing...

Everything in Iraq was so Saddam could have big parades and hopefully intimidate his neighbors. His soldiers meant nothing to him. Individual soldiers in the Russian army have always meant nothing so if Putin does the same thing it's no surprise, just sick.

Well, this is 'The KGB Poison Guy', so... yeah, no real surprise at all.

Only 2 months to go until Telford    so I started to think in terms of what I want. Then I thought, NO, think in terms of what you need as I need various bits and bobs that will be far easier to buy face to face then via the Royal Mail. Once that's done I can think in terms of kits etc.

However I do this every year.....best laid plans etc

Shock horror, don't tell anybody, but I've actually made some progress this week. 

The Kittyhawk is now a complete airframe. It's not a bad kit, just requires a fair bit of cleaning up and some of the smaller parts are probably easier to replace, but on the whole it goes together ok. The Tempest is now primed and I've also done a little bit of work on a couple of stalled projects.

So the mojo returned  , but I'm away for the next week or so, hopefully it stays in place for when I come back.

Been away down in Chichester for a few days with some old school mates, it'll take a week to dry out    . On one of our jaunts we went to the RAF Tangmere Museum, which was very near our hotel. This was my pick and I assumed my mates would get round it in an hour and then we'd be off. However it is a superb museum and if anything they were more interested than I was  . Took us 3 hours and they finally started to understand my interests and hobby. Lots of models, in various scales, throughout the museum to go with the full size exhibits and I was fielding on the lines of, "is this what you make ?" ; "how easy are they to make ?" ; "where can you get them ?" . Converts ? 

Anyway here we are latter in the garden cafe of the Parnell Modern Art Museum in Chichester, which was Andy's, who went to Art College, choice.
