During the early summer in 1944 the Germans in the south had a short break to rebuild. Some very industrious field mechanics had a request for more armored flak carriers to help with those pesky sturmovik ground attacks. So they came up with this! A Sdkfz 251 with a quad 2cm flak gun. Problem solved!

This is the old Tamiya 251 and flak 38 kits with a bit of flat stock.
One day I will remember to take pictures of the work in progress!

Agreed ..very nice build indeed and sorry lads this was not done in the RW..the 251 was to small ..it's not the weight either..this gun system only weighted a smeg over 1500 kgs ..it's the mass of the gun and its 8 man crew ..that way the SDKFZ7 8ton half track was used.

They did make a version with the single 20mm... Sdkfz 251/17

Completely remodeled the sides, though - and they folded, too:

Sd.Kfz. 251/17 - Schützenpanzerwagen (2 cm). Anti-aircraft vehicle armed with a 2 cm KwK38 on a pedestal mounting with a small armored turret to protect the gunner. Late war, it was issued as a platoon commander's vehicle to replace the Sd.Kfz. 251/10.

And there was another version, the /21, with a Drilling mount:

Sd.Kfz. 251/21 - Schützenpanzerwagen (Drilling MG151s). Anti-aircraft and ground support variant equipped with a triple-mount ("Drilling" in German means "triple") of MG151 autocannon; early version being MG151/15 mm cannon, later being MG151/20 mm Luftwaffe cannon, on a Kriegsmarine triple mount. Strong firepower, especially when organised into platoons of 6 SPW. However, with a combined rate of fire of 2000 RPM, it could fire off its full load of 3000 rounds in just 90 seconds.

I've got the Sd251/17 Rick..used by the Luftwaffe. It's a cool mod they did but like it says tho..just a single gun.
The second ..the drilling had this funky mounting for the triple cannons it used..and yep had ghe AFV Club model of that.

Out of the 25 251 variants built I had 23 of them..all 35th scale..
Annoyingly the final version has the 20mm cannon turret from a 250 half track mounted to the 251/25s hull..so guess that I had to buy to get that turret 
Buy the way ..I absolutely love WW2 German half tracks..I had over 35 of them before "The Incident" .

Both the 250 and 253 are based on the Hanomag 1ton half track which most were armed with a Flak 38 .
