Quote from: kerick on September 02, 2023, 02:59:05 PMLike the story of the TAC who was totally frustrated with an Army FM radio until he slammed it against a tree. Then it worked!

If it was a PRC-77, that sounds about right.

It was the vehicular mounted one, not the portable. Although the PRC-77 did make a good wheel chock when parked on a hillside for the night.
Ah, RT-524 series.  We had those when when I joined the 50th MSB, NJARNG.  Great boat anchors, those were, and yeah, physical adjustment worked for them too.
The F-106- 26 December 1956 to 8 August 1988

I've got my old tech school book about those radios in my attic somewhere. That would be a flashback reading that stuff again!

I've no idea what any of you are talking about, but it's brought a smile to my face  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

This is looking a really impressive build. Some of the detail work has got me  :o  are you sure it's not 1/16th scale ?  ;)

Military radios are way above my head..I know or better knew how to use em but radios today are alien tech to me now Chris 😆

Mate I'm bloody glad it's not 16th ..space is a problem now  ;D
I had all weekend and didn't even get to touch it..sometimes I wish I didn't know what I know about all the things I know..then ppl wouldn't keep coming to me for help ..damn it
Worked on one Yamaha quad bike and three boat trailers .
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

People have never, ever trusted me with tools and as for numbers, I worked with statistics rather than accounts so that's not much use to "normal" people either  ;)  Tend to get left alone  ;D

I doubt you ever saw an MRC-107 or 108. The radios in those vehicles still had vacuum tubes.

Oh, and by the way, your build is looking great! Just close up the engine bay and put a honk'n big exhaust pipe on it!
