Old Wombat

I have an Italeri 1/48 Viggen in the Wombat Stash for exactly the same purpose! ;D

Luckily I plan to do mine in the regular SEA scheme of the 1970's & 1980's.

I'm hoping to, one day, get a Draken to do the same with.

I'll be watching you, Wardukw! I'll be watching you! ;)

Thomas mate those look brilliant mate but that Viggen is amazing..that looks so good 👍

Fred your on it there mate..that bottom pic is the scheme I was looking at ..well those colours and thanks for the heads upbon those SMS paints..im gonna hunt em down ..or the closest I can get to em anyway  ;D

Oh keep watching Mr Womby Sir...im going old school and new school at the same time here .
Ken's idea with the splinter camo gave me one idea..digi cam gave me another and Fred hooked me up with the right colours ..keep an eye out mate for sure 👀 😉
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

I'll be watching this with two eyes!

Well you guys can look away for a little while as I'm playing with another build at the mo ..which you'll see soon enough..then I think it's play time for this ..just gotta get a couple of things for it first  .
Like decals..that's kinda the most important part.

Well you can of course paint it any colour you like. I think this is one aircraft that will look good in ANY camo scheme. My own SAAB Viggens will be part of my expanding collection of aircraft operated by the Scottish Independent Republic Air Force. With no specific timeline I have great flexibility in choice of subject. Aircraft will be painted in what I choose to call the "haggis and heather" scheme! ;D .  splinter camouflage based on the Swedish "fields and meadows" colour scheme. I'm figuring Tan/Green/Green/Black/dark purplish grey (Haggi do have multi coloured plumage after all. ;D ) .

Kits used will be the old Airfix kits of which I have three! Yes, I know it represents the prototype but, this is Whifworld and, it looks good enough for me! ;D .I'm planning an air to air, air to ground and, maritime strike versions.

Beer nate I'll go with the AUSCAM colours ..those colours done in splinter scheme and done right will look pretty damn mean .
I'm not going to copy the Swedish layout and just change the colours ..I'll have to look at many different options to get a design I like .
Mine will be air to ground ..haven't decided on the load out yet.

Well,I did say "based on" ;)  ;D . I'll certainly be using similar colours because they're perfect for much of our terrain. I'll certainly go for a less complex design though.  The Viggen has nine hardpoints in total so, you can fit a hefty load! Mine will have at least three  for external tanks. I'm using a different scheme for my maritime strike version though  - it'll be a four tone grey & blue splinter finish.  I'm using the supplied Rb 04 missiles

Mate I think I'm going to go complicated as hell 😆
I was thinking of something to test me and a complicated as hell paint job would do the trick.
My aircraft builds are what call average so I want to build better planes and the more I can challenge my arse the better  ;D
I'm getting a idea for the weapons load out ..well one idea anyway...im thinking of rocket pods and cluster munitions...maybe a few MK82s or  a couple of Sidewinders or AIM120 Amraams for self defense.
I am looking forward to seeing your builds mate as the Viggen is a big fav of mine 😀

I'll be getting around to them shortly! ;)  ;D . Don't worry, I will post pics a s a p. One thing for certain, they won't be bloody grey all over! ;D  For my Air Defence version, I think a load of AMRAAMs and Sidewinders will do. I've got some spare ADEN gun pods that should fit . Alternatively, Maestro Models do a nice ,resin Oerlikon KCA cannon pod. For the mud mover, I figure a load out of LGBs would be nice. I've also got some spare TERs and, MERs so, lots of things that go bang could be hung under it! ;D .

Way back when my employers sold a fatigue test rig to SAAB for the AJ37, and I installed it in their test bay lab. You would not BELIEVE the vast number of 'things that go bang' that they wanted to hang under there! I'm amazed the air actually has enough room under a Viggen's wing to lift it!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Damn with Beermonsters load out ideas and what I'm thinking it still don't seem either of us are any where near what this thing could carry  ;D
That's makes life much easier.
I now thinking 4 Matra rocket pods..bombs and a couple of drop tanks as this beast range isn't the best.

I do have a question for our Aussie contingent..the size of the roundels used on birds like the F-18s ..im trying to find out how big they are but not having a heap of luck there.
