Stainless steel is a real pain in most cases..AFV Club us a type of medium density type of stainless which will bend but takes quite a bit of work to bend ..the exhaust shroud on their Scorpion light tank is a prefect example..it's thin but a right pain to bend as it's very springy metal..heat doesn't do much at all.

Any stainless steel which is low density will bend and heat will soften it..anything above that will be a problem.
Strangely I've had brass which was exactly like medium density stainless..it's very thin sheet..  .25mm thick...heat does nothing to it..it's very strangle metal and yep..it is brass.  ;D

Thanks for the kind words!
Actually the assembly was not that bad. The parts look complicated but the frame for the stairs had only three bends. The stand had three in the frame and six in the platform because I cut the three railings apart. The smallest parts were the laptops.
I'll try to have pics tonight.

Here's the previously promised pics.

These are all the parts in the package including all the extra shapes left over.

Close up of the stairs. Toughest part here was eyeballing the angle to bend the treads at.

A shot of the stairs and platform together. This is the arrangement that's given in the set as it arrives. To me, this doesn't make a lot of sense as the stairs should be at the opposite side as the open side of the platform or maybe at one end or the other. The open side should be against the aircraft or whatever is being worked on. Unless people are working on stuff overhead or something. Then all the sides should have railings. At least they give you extras and the original ones can be trimmed away and repositioned.

One coat of Model Master orange acrylic. I wanted paint that would not glob on and be so thick and lumpy it would hide all the detail. It's not perfect coverage so I'll call it a little worn and dirty looking. I'll add a little bit of a darker shade of metal to the platform surface to make it look used.

Closer look at all the extra bits and pieces left over. Good for any number of whiff projects. Quite a bonus if you ask me!

That turned out looking amazing Ken and the way you described it..dead easy 😆
If a want a well worth affect..dry brush a metallic paint on the flat bits 😀
Steel and gun metal gray would work .

That's a terrific piece of work

If possible the "nude" version is better looking than the painted one, both stunning.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

That's very, VERY smart! Most impressive.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

The unpainted metal would certainly work. A quick spray with some clear flat would take the shine off of it to make it look used.

Leave the laptops unpainted and just say they're Macbooks.

I painted the backs but used a black marker on the edges and front. That way it didn't cover up the keyboard. At least I can peel the paint off the back if I change my mind. And alcohol would remove the marker ink.

That looks fantastic
I get what you say about the open side of the platform - I would have cut off one of the end rails and put the stairs there.

I've been browsing the website https://www.madworks.tw/products/aw  and they do a huge range of these in many scales. Air bridges, corridors, mesh flooring. You could detail your own Terminator 2 steel foundry with a bunch of these sets.

The MT series is for aircraft maintenance ladders in 1/72 or 1/144. These include trolleys, wet floor signs and small step ladders.

They sell their own tools like tweezers and nippers and even a special stand for the nippers! https://www.madworks.tw/products/misc/at-01
This miniature pallette is one of those things you'd never think you'd need... https://www.madworks.tw/products/misc/pm-001

Put the ladder on the end, and the stairs next to an aircraft, tank, etc. as its own separate work platform
