Quote from: Wardukw on September 20, 2023, 06:40:54 PMWell this is a surprise for me to be adding more to my future stock pile ..today's mail was epic 😁

From Bungle ( Andy ) I got at last a 48th Dragon Ju88 G6 night figther and the Trumpeter F/A 18E Super Hornet weapons set in 32nd scale..this only comes with the kit so I'm super chuffed to have this 😀

And also from Vostoc7 (Leigh) a Frog 72nd scale P-61 Black Widow and it's very small and if I remember right it's from 1965 but don't quote me  ;)
It's a very cool model 😎 ☺️ 😊

Oh , I think I have the black widow also , and I was surprised about that size , and it seems very old ...
I build a P61 in the seventies, and it was much larger, maybe a 1/48 from monogram I think ?
It's a Land Rover, NOT a Jeep . Like a Jeep, but for gentlemen.

This one will be number 4 for me but my mate John offered me another P-61 ..a 48th Monogram one ..so of course I said yep 🙂
Here's comes No5 and quite possibly a 48th Monogram B-26 Marauder too.
It would be the mid 80s when I built my first one Noizer mate...had a big love if 48th Monogram back in those days
Still do enjoy them really  ;D

Very small?  :-\

A 1/72 Black Widow has a span of nearly a foot, that's hardly 'small'!

Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

It is small when you consider I build 48th and bigger ..the last 72nd plane made I turned that into 1/48  ;D
OK second to last ..the last was that B-59 monster which went from 48th F-111 backwards to 72nd

Hahaha 😀 😆
I love cause that reminds me of what my dad told when they lived in Australia..they where driving and saw a sign for fresh apples and oranges..three hours later driving on the same road they still hadn't got to the fruit shop yet 🙃

Quote from: zenrat on September 20, 2023, 04:15:26 AMHmmmm, i'm putting off going to restock on paint because I'm afraid something similar will happen...
 :-\

Just wish I had a model shop nearby that I could visit when I need paint, rather than having to get via post or at SMW.

If you discount Warhammer and Modelcraft who do some Revell paints which I really don't like. There's nobody nearer that Hannants a 2 hour trip across London away by the RAF Museum.

On top of that I've never quite understood Warhammer's opening hours, seems to be based on when the staff turn up and Modelcraft is awkward to get to via public transport  :-\

The only brand the Local Mornington shop has which is of use to me is Tamiya.  For Vallejo or Gunze I have to venture further afield.
But it is Tamiya I am low on.

1 x Dora Wings 1/48 Vultee Vengeance Mk.II Dive Bomber (DW-48044) - As mentioned earlier

Must admit I like the look of that. I've built a couple of 1/72 Dora Wings kits and they can be a little fussy. Be interested in your thoughts on it once you have it.

Hi Chris!

Got the kits towards the end of last week. I haven't taken the kit out of the plastic, yet, but first impressions are very good. No flash, reasonable gates, fine (but not stupidly so) panel lines, seems to have reasonable detail & enough parts without looking to be excessive or too fiddly.

When I get the time & space to pull them out of the plastic for a closer look I may remember to give you an update. ;)

Many thanks. Confirms my thoughts. They appear to be keeping up the standards they've set themselves. Quite possibly 1/48th suits what they want to do in way of detail, in 1/72 it can be just a tad fiddly, especially for me.

Maybe I need to consider 1/48th ? But would Kit ever speak to me again ?  ;)

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Tamiya paints. Sometimes it works fine and at other times it can dry on the brush before I even get near the model. So tend to avoid it nowadays. Shame because their coverage is very good, even for things like white and yellow.

I've tried them twice and found them vile, detestable and will die a slightly less grumpy man if I never use them again.

In other news, I've liberated a Trumpeter Condor C-8 from Uncle Frank.  Looks a better kit to build than the Revell.  Tempted with another to convert to a late Airliner version.

And I also got some paint. Ran out of the late dark green - I know it as RLM 82 but the number changes with the weather - and I was unsure if I had enough RLM 63.  I'm unsure if the second Spanish Bv 141 is going 63 uppers with the Falange marking or desert with bombs and roundels proper.  I do like the latter, so another may be in order.

Like the sound of the desert scheme

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
