Book shops are simply amazing places where I can get lost for hours

Family Rheged all agree: bookshops can be dangerous places.  You can lose far to much time(and quite often money) if you venture into a good one.

There are three four Amongst the places I need to keep an eye on SWMBO- Spirit Halloween, our local feline rescue & tchotchke shop, Spencer's & Hot Topic, and what few bookstores we have left in the area, lest she get more than we already have.

Hmmm......
What does she say about you in stores?

I'm always the responsible one.  And to be honest, I haven't bought a kit in 10 years

That is extraordinary restraint! I'm considering going to HB and pick out another Metal Earth kit right now.

There is a town up the line - Featherston, IIRC - where there is a veritable plethora of second-hand book shops... including one with a Military focus.
I keep thinking I should take a road trip some time, then sanity calls and I answer... no space for any more, you see...  :banghead:

One of my favourite films with one of my favourite actresses

I have to admit that I've found several of the "Working Title" productions quite viewable. Having said that, I'm also fully aware that's making me a rather sorry romcom addict, but so be it. As the great Mr Wilde once said: The best way to defeat a temptation is to indulge in it.

I'm more than happy to admit to a romcom addiction. Takes you away from the travails of the real world for a couple of hours

Construction weekend in the archipelago. Finally, we got started on that wooden deck that - eventually - will surround the main house on three sides and provide ample space not only for barbecues but also for tanning (predominantly a Mrs P requirement) general relaxation and easy access to a semi sunk woodfired bathtub. But we started with the new and significantly improved access to the main entrance. A 5 ft x 15 ft structure built and decked, all in one day, and with time enough left to have a really nice dinner out, just the two of us, in the little restaurant by the harbour. Not a bad day at all!

You cannot view this attachment.

The undecked area is by the way intentionally left to facilitate access for when we add the next section of support structure. The intention is to seamlessly extend it towards the camera and around the corner, but that's for another day.

Knowing most time and even more energy would go to the carpenter work, I didn't even bring any model related stuff, but this evening, while crashing with a beer in the sofa after the restaurant trip, I couldn't restrain myself from finally having that >>Modelsvit Tupolev<< that's been teasing me for well over a month. Stupid move, most likely, but..

Ah, well. I might even start it if I roll on with the Esci Blinder I had pulled out of storage. One thing tend to lead to another, and they are both big, supersonic Russians, aren't they?

Just be careful that the dog doesn't disappear under the flooring on exploration duties just before you pot the final touches to the decking  ;)

Good job.  Not bad for a days work.
How are your back and knees feeling?

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Quite OK, actually. We built the shed in the background this summer, so I've had some practice.  ;)
But this kind of decking is actually quite easy work. Not much heaving or bending, just cut, fit, screw, repeat. And there's plenty of it left..

The dog is a minischnauzer, i.e the only non-British terrier breed there is. And as a terrier, he should be able to dig himself out.

But will the Mrs and kids be prepared to wait for him to dig himself out ? Or start to panic and send you to dig him out ?  ;)

Oh, he'll be faster that that, I'd bet. Ha can be a very energetic little beardrat, that one..

Somewhat annoyingly, I had to make yet another exemption from the StashTM expansion ban today as >>THIS<< turned up. Hopefully, I'll be able to cut the trend after this, but as usual, one never knows.
No real modelling either today as work and some travel planning took precedence, the latter impacting most of the rest of this work week as well. That said, for some reason I never fully managed to wrap my head around, I have a day off on Friday, as does the rest of my company, whereas the lovely Mrs P doesn't. Hence, I might feel inclined to actually start something new up in order to not only deposit but also withdraw. And it is that Tu-22 Blinder that looks closest at hand. At least right now.

But there will be a few hard days before getting to Friday, so I'd better get some kip in.
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

And if you pick up a book version, it's an even longer break - or a series thereof.
I recommend most things by Georgette Heyer.  Just saying.

Reading is indeed a lovely pastime, but I'm not that sure about written romcoms. But that's probably just me - we all have our very personal favourites..
While I really enjoy a nice, full length romcom film, a TV series soon become awkward. There, I much prefer crimes, and then rather the somewhat slow, non-explicit British type. For reading, it's the same. Drama novels - crime series

Yesterday, I roadtripped through almost third of Sweden, netting some 785 km's. All done in the trusty (well..) old Defender, and with a 3-tonne trailer behind. First, leaving off the other (not yet so trusty) Defender at a favourite mechanics, then onwards to pick up a snow plow for said Defender, and then south again, picking up a full-sized roof rack while passing by.
It's an amazing time to roadtrip, as the autumn slowly creeps south over Scandinavia. While there's still almost summer nd very green where I live, down south, up mid-Sweden where I collected that plow, most deciduous trees were brightly yellow,  and red, sparkling in the mist. And while it's beautiful, me, being very much a summer person, also find it a bit depressing, knowing there's only a few weeks until the leaves are all gone, and the world turns into a greyish brown allover, and you can't venture outside without having to spend half an hour dressing up to protect against the elements. Not my cuppa at all..

But still, the world at home is green and lovely, and I'm taking every chance to enjoy the weather while it lasts.

Modelling - not much lately. I'm expecting the arrival of last weeks shopping spree, and once that's arrived, maybe the mojo will become too acute to resist. The weekend, however, will mostly be wood work. That deck, you know..
