I started the top colour coat on the WOT8 today.  As I think i said earlier I want a truck with its red paint wearing off to expose the dark blue underneath.  Well having done the dark blue, clear, and hairspray, today I started on the red.
It's not covering very well but it will.  I got couple of coats on but then had to go an install a new 50" TV for a relative.  Poor woman lives on her own and has multiple chronic medical issues flaring up meaning she is in constant pain.  I don't know how she keeps on going but she does.
Shame I didn't get it finished because it was perfect painting weather and tomorrow its going to pi55 down and blow a gale for most of the day.
Not a day to be in my shed as it'll sound like the sky is falling.

Metro Hobbies (Melbourne Hobby Shop) have the Airfix Rotodyne listed as "in stock" on their website.
Needless to say I got fired up by this figuring I had missed an announcement from Airfix.  So I tried to order a couple.
"Tried" being the operative word as i get error messages when I try to checkout.
Airfix still list it as a preorder item so I think Metro meant to do the same but have f**ked up.
Which is annoying.

Rebuild of Do.17 float struts is progressing slowly but surely,  Slowly because I don't want to have to do it a third time.

And as mandarins are coming to the end of their season and prices have dropped I bought a kilo and made marmalade.

Started an Eduard FW190 today.  Dual combo greenhearts boxing.  I've already built one of them for the Racer GB.
I am justifying this as clearing space in my stash - its an f**king huge box considering it contains only one 1/72 single engined fighter (albeit with two complete sets of spare wings and two complete spare fuselages),
OOB build although I might add a pilot figure.  I plan on painting it in one of the recently posted Me.109 schemes (AZ whiff in a box) which had a mix of NMF & sky blue underside.
IIRC these go together nicely.  I shall be leaving out all the smaller PE parts and anything not visible through the cockpit opening (I got out the first build to see what i could see in there - not a lot).  So goodbye cocking handles, farewell rudder pedals,  So long throttle lever.

Do.17 float struts are rebuilt to the point where I can glue them on...
...once I make good the damage on the underside of the nacelles where I glued them on first time.

I'm doing bodywork on the 4wd Chevelle "Animal Kingdom" build.  I decided it would look better with the bumpers moulded in so i stripped the chrome off, narrowed them, and glued them on.  Front required temporary removal of the grille.  Some PSR was needed.
Once this is done I want to add a snorkel.

Snorkels! We loves them! 

Snorkels are very popular on the urban 4wds I see round here.  The ones that never get water above their hubs.
I think i've got the PSR almost done and i've drilled a big hole through the front wing for the snork.

Was about to glue the floats to the Do.17 when I realised there was minor PSR needed in places that would have been hard to get to with them in place.  So I slapped on some putty.

Investigate, and you'll likely also find that those snorkels aren't sealed all the way to the intake manifold, hence being quite useless too. But they do look cool.
I have them on both my Defenders, and they're sealed. And tested in real life conditions..

The Me 109 I recently got had the same sized box as their 1/48 scale Tempest II and Spitfire I 

Their early 190's had a poor reputation for fit, they were considered very, very fiddly if I remember the reviews. However I think they re-tooled it so be interested to know what it's like. I like the idea of using the 109 K What If scheme 

My notes from the first one read;

Highly detailed kit.  Very sensitive to missalignments and paint thickness.  Care needs to be taken.  Some very fiddly bits of PE.  Some putty needed but that might have been me.  Dual Combo means two in a box.  Many spare parts.

Box inflation is very real.  My large collection of late 70's/early 80's Hasegawa and Red Line Airfix kits shows that.

All the Eduard 72nd kits use the same sized boxes as the 48th as it's cheaper to buy more in one size than less in several.

'sides, you can get two or three 72nd in the one box, thus minimising on storage space.

Progress on the Eduard FW 190.  Paying attention has paid off and I have managed to get the fit much betterer than it was on the first one.
Fuselage is closed up and the wings are on and i shouldn't need more than a few smears of putty.
There was an issue with the undercarriage bay roof piece which needed trimming to allow the wings/lower fuselage/lower cowling piece to fit neatly.

Floats are back on the Do.17.

PSR on the Chevelle is, I think, finished.  The hole in the wing is for the snorkel.

And i've attacked the paint on the WOT8 with a toothbrush and toothpick.  Next stage is rust and grime.
