The Wooksta!

The filler was sanded back and then I gave the wings a good polish - the port upper had some sanding scratches that Aluminium would positively shine  and they had to go.  I didn't fill the Trappoklape bulge, rather I gave it a decent squirt of the rough Aluminium.  The new can was warmed up whilst I had a cuppa and then on with the final Aluminium coat.  Very shiny indeed.

I did add some rod to the engines, but removed it earlier. Bits kept coming off as I was trying to trim them and they prevented the engines from fitting. Nice idea, but you failed, Mr Fibuli, you failed!

Left overnight,  I got on with masking the fuselage and wings for the black around the engines and nose. Took a while, especially the nose.  I really should have reshot it with some primer as Xtracrylix does not like being sprayed over Halfords Aluminium, and I had to wipe off one side and start again.

Once it was all dry, I took all the masking off.  The black around the nose is a bit Meh, but overall she looks stunning.

The engine cowlings got a coat of 02 inside and I'll do the final assembly on those in a day or two.  The doors were all primed, bar one as I need to use it as a pattern to replace the one that shattered when I tried getting it off the sprues, and had both colours sprayed on.

The other major thing to be done was assemble, prime and paint the undercarriage, which is now resplendent in 02. Just need to paint the gators and that job can be ticked off the list.

Next up: decalling.  Or maybe try tidying up the black around the nose.  Still have to look at the exhausts there, although they are ready to go on.

No we can't.

Put the pics up but make anyone going to Telford promise not to look.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Given the average age of those attending Telford most of us would probably have forgotten anyhow  ;D

Anyway Telford's only 7 weeks away.  ;)

Hey, I resemble that remark! :o

Wait, what were we discussing? Why am I so angry and confused? Where's my medication? ;D

The engines are finally together and have a coat of primer, so the black will go on later, whilst most of the u/c doors are painted.

Next job is to sort out the tail wheel.  The Italeri Ju 88 one I'm using needs some slight reworking.

Not done much to this at the moment, but I did sort out the tail wheel.

Chopped down an Italeri Ju 88 one, removing everything above the strut, drilling it to accept a pin which was then sleeved with plastic rod.  Slots neatly into the hole for it in the tail wheel bay.

Had a coat of RLM02 sprayed on it yesterday, so out with the hairy stick to paint the wheel itself.

The engines were just a push fit there.  Hoping to have some decals on by the end of the weekend.

Road not taken.  This is the abortive attempt to get some exhausts in.  They kept coming off when trimming and interfered with fit.  So no, they came out.

PR19_Kit

Can you shove them back in after the engine's glued in place?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Not enough space and it would get very frustrating very quickly.

The decals are now on and it looks fab.  Bit of tidying with a hairy stick on the nose and I can get the varnish on.

The roundels are the 1970s type, so I broke out the Series Espanolas ones to at least get some use out of them. They're a tad big, but given that the Ju 352 is a lot larger than a C-57, I doubt anyone will notice.  Not that I care a jot for their opinions anyhoo.
