Probably, but it's on and I'm going with what I have. The next one (possibly Czech) will have more time spent on it.

Would a small horizontal barrier inside the lower edge (to stop the part falling in) and a couple of 10 thou shims correct the fit?

I put a small 10 thou 'lip' under one edge of my 148 that stopped it falling right through. But the moulds are so old, and they kept on punching the kits out long after they should have been re-furbished, that the shape of the hole itself isn't that rectilinear.

(Sorry for such a complex word, but it fits the syntax.)

S'ok, I was able to parse the meaning from context...  ;)  (see, I can play, too!)

So a better fix would be to make the hole more regular in the first place.

PR19_Kit

I did with my 148, but it ends up larger and then the clear hatch will DEFINITELY fall right through. :(

Only if you leave it larger than it should be... lining it with strip plastic would be helpful...  ;)

IIRC I thought that was where the camera fitting would be, so that's what is there now... but not for long, now I know better. <_<

The Wooksta!

One is now ready to decal, with the second ready for it's RLM 82/83 Dark Green. Just masked the third to do the 71.  It was just going to be the one, but I thought a delivery scheme may look better, especially with the black/red Falangist marking on the fuselage.

Had I not already painted the rudder, it could well have been another captured RAF one.

I'm not sure where the cameras actually go. I really should read the Valiant Wings book on the type more closely.  Well worth the tenner or so it cost.

In my defense, I was remembering Eric Winkle's comment about tipping the aircraft 90 degrees and hanging it from the engine boom, which gave a pretty amazing field of view, so I went with that idea for the camera placement.

PR19_Kit

The two cameras on the standard 141 are floor mounted a bit further aft of the hatch, there's a good pic of them in the Valiant Wings book, but it doesn't give you much idea of the positioning, as it's taken too close.

The 148s had more of them and were much further aft, in that gap between the cockpit and the props.  ;D

The masking came off one of the Spanish ones earlier and it's looking a lot better than I thought it would, whilst the other one has the lighter of the two greens on and is masked for the darker coat.  I'll have to respray the 71 on the port wing as one patch isn't quite right and it can't be hidden.

The  one going captured - I already have an Air Min decal prepared* - had the 81 sprayed earlier and it looks even better than the first.  Really looking forward to getting some decals on it.

* I've found I can't do any number with a 7 in it as I automatically add a line. I've used a German style 7 for as long as I can remember...

That makes a lot of sense - thanks.  : ;)

Looking forward to seeing these beasts, Lee.

May have some decals on by the end of tomorrow.

The two Spanish ones are decalled and just need a slight trim before they get varnished.
The captured one is largely decalled, I just need to add the German unit codes.  Really pleased with it.

I'm equally happy with the old CMK resin P.194 that was decalled very the weekend.  Just needs some slight touch ups with a hairy stick and then varnish.

The Wooksta!

The two Spanish ones are done.  Not my best work but they'll look okay at the back of a display largely dominated by two in progress Ju 390s.

Photos will be posted as soon as I get some decent sunshine to take them.  I'll post some of the Luftwaffe one at the same time.
