One of the nicer ways of relaxing

Today's been a quite slow day following that construction weekend. Nevertheless, the lass needed some assistance with her Suzuki Jimny jeep, so something useful got done. But I was definitely more useful yesterday.

Here's most of what we managed to build, and I'm quite happy to announce we managed to stick to the grand plan of not buying more material than we can use up in the given timeframe, so no leftovers!

Also, my mechanic called earlier, so tomorrow I'm collecting the short Defender. Quite pep for that, I have to admit. It'll be great to get that one properly operational, finally. Good fun!

You mean she DOESN'T have a Defender too?  :o  :o  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

You will find that a Jimny basically is a Defender in half scale, from a technical perspective, so I think she's excused..  ;)

And at least she's keeping up with Family Tradition and driving a 4X4, so...

Is it a properr looking old Jimny or one of the new models?

I actually looked at getting a Jimny 5 years ago but it felt rather cramped inside for a big guy like me.

From a drivers perspective, I'm not that sure the Defender is any bigger. I'd say the Jimny is more efficiently planned..  ;)
A difference, though, is that you will sit very close to your passenger in a Jimny whereas there'll be a foot plus in between in the Defender.

Hers is a 2001my, so the Generation 3 round one. It's cute looks are deceptive though, as it's a surprisingly competent off-roader, in particular if you add some lift to the suspension. The Defender, though, is - obviously - a much more rugged vehicle both in and out, tolerating dirt and abuse to an entirely different level.

At home again with Shaun the Short Defender after about two hours on B and C-roads (those who know, know) and he's behaving quite well. It's good to have reached this stage, having two useable terrain-capable vehicles as autumn draws in. There's still more to fix (always) but afaik nothing beyond my own capabilities or knowledge. So it's just a matter of getting on with it.
The rest of the day will have to be spent on work, though, but it's a lot of listening to people talking, so maybe I'll find time to plan some painting of models, if nothing else. Maybe.

Still in the paint sequence freeze, annoyingly, and with no immediate outlook towards any resolve. The weather is stormy but sunny, so I should really go outside to tend to some garden chores before the winter sets in properly, but I really, really can't find the lust for that either. Maybe this will be a tea-and-book day?

Now't wrong with that.

Well - as things turned out, Saturday became a baking day. For some reason, I just got the urge and off we went, and here we are.

An old recipe inherited from my farmer granny, based on oat grains and some wheat. It becomes a bit like sourdough bread, but without the fiddly bit of keeping the bl00dy sourdough alive.

Today, we went to see old friends of my father-in-law. We accidentally bumped into them a few weeks ago, and since they were very dear friends to my Mrs P's family back in the day, it was a real treat. They live about an hour and a half from us, so we quickly decided to pop by, and today we did. A lovely trip, mainly on small roads in the countryside where Short Shaun really felt at home, and a very nice lunch and talk indeed.

The coming week, I'll be travelling as the main fair in my business is on. Good fun, usually, but also quite tiring. When I'm home again on Thursday, I anticipate a very quiet end of the working week.

Not many things beat freshly baked bread

Used to love my maternal grannie's Stottie Cakes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stottie_cake that she used to baked in the range

Which is why, AIUI, real estate agents bring fresh baked bread into the kitchen of a house they are showing - and brew a fresh batch of coffee too...

Thursday already, but on the other hand, I'm all but worn out. This week, the yearly national wind industry fair was held, and I've spent 2 1/2 days listening to experts and politicians (seldom the same thing), talking to colleagues and mingling with friends too rarely seen. Magnificent days indeed, but as I was home just before midnight yesterday, I'm all but useless today. And despite that, I just slammed the work computer shut after having toiled with it since 0730 this morning. Modelling..?Pff...

I might sleep well tonight..

Good idea

As for politicians and experts ? I found it amusing how once experts entered politics they seemed to lose all that hard earned expertise ? Or am I just a cynic ?  ;)
