May be of some use if you want to detail the bomb bay...

That's a very odd shape, curving up at the sides like that. The HUMA moulding is totally flat, with a few longitudinal ribs.

Fuel tanks possibly?

It was posted in the Facebook 88 family group, supposedly found in amongst a load of Ju 388 photos.  My immediate thought was Ju 288 - I've seen similar in the two references I have - but on reflection it could be the Ju 488 V401 or V403, as that had a long bomb bay.

Yeah, that makes sense. There's not much room for any large size bombs for sure. It looks about the right length/proportions for the 288 though.

I'm away from my 288 references, so can't check the bomb load.

Gondor

Had a quick look at my only 288 refference. The picture of the bomb bay is of a 288C version. Bomb load was 3000Kg.

That figures. The HUMA kit is 288C with the 610 engines, and the bombs in the kit are SC 1800s.

My '588' will have a slightly larger bomb load, of only because the wings will be longer  ;D , but also the bomb bay will end up a bit longer too. I've started on the fuselage extensions, which are going OK, but not worth any extra pics yet.

The 588's fuselage extensions are almost done now. The aft one is done, but may need some 5 or 10 shim on one side the get the thickness correct. The forward one will need some extra bits added as I forgot that it should be deeper there, but that won't be too difficult to fix. The extra sections were all cut from 40 thou styrene to match the wall thickness of the HUMA 288 kit and that makes for a very strong add-on.

Here's the centre fuselage as it stands at the moment.

And here's the tail assembly taped into position too.

I'd like to show the nose assembly taped in place as well, but I forgot it while packing for my short break away.  :banghead:

Did the parcel arrive already?

Gondor

You do realise that you have me thinking about building My 288. The real downside to that is that I have moved it into the loft and so far the hastle of getting up into that area to retreive it is easily outweighing the temptation.

I'm very curious as to where my old Airmodel one has vanished to, as well as the Fw 191 that I know is in an Me 262 box.  I do have to go in the loft later, so I shall have a look then.

I did have a Huma 288, but I don't know who I sold it on to.

It'll probably be waiting for me when  I get home next week Thomas. I'm away in Cheshire at the moment.

Ah, thank you, Kit. I am just nervous that the precious content might get lost, since the parcel cannot be tracked and I do not get a delivery note.
