Quote from: chrisonord on October 19, 2023, 11:02:05 AMI would have liked to take part in this GB, as I have one of each to go at, but the possibilty of moving house will put a stop to me building anything for a while

It's over 9 years since we last moved house, but the whole episode is still seared in our memories.    The only advice we can offer is make sure EVERYTHING is properly labelled, keep the box with the kettle, mugs, tea/coffee, sugar etc very easily available and remember,  all removal men work so much better if frequent brews and chocolate digestives are freely available!

Our best wishes  for both finding a new house and moving to it.

Pack the remotes with the device they operate.  Despite what you may think when packing at 2am the day before the removalists turn up It is not a good idea to put them in a biscuit tin full of pencils in the bottom of a box of office stuff.  You will not remember doing it and will not find them for a while.  Don't ask me how I know this.
Thanks for the posetive words guys, much appreciated.

Quite my thought too, but possibly the slightly developed but much superior GR.3 version. If I can revive any sort of mojo, that is.

Looking much forward to your contributions, though.

I'm pretty sure there's a heap more Harriers in 72nd than there is in 48th so plenty of options 🤔 😉

I've bought a heap of Harriers over the years.  Never built one even vaguely as intended.  For this GB i will probly build an Airfix 1/72 (natch) GR7A/GR9A (2014 mould) pretty much OOB and then give it a payload and paint whiff.

Yes, me too, but I've NEVER built a whole one!  :banghead:

I got 1/3 of the way through a Sword T2 as G-VOTL in its original red-white-blue scheme, but that stalled when it came to the mind bogglingly complex PE cockpit. :(

Oh yes, I did do a Hasegawa Egg Harrier for the late Mrs_PR19 though.  ;D

Been trying to think how many Harriers I've had ..and the grand total is 4..2 Monogram and 1 Tamiya in 48th and a Matchbox one.
The second Monogram one got like a month ago..the other 3 I was still living with family and I moved out at 17 ..say 30+ yrs between builds  ;D

I've completed two or three over the years, think I may add a forth due to a recent order from Colin for the Air Race update for the Harrier where he added a test set of SRAAM's as well, so..... maybe.....

Kit ya got me wanting a resin cockpit for my AV-8B now 😏.
Took a look online and plenty for the Hasegawa kit so if I want one I'll have to modify it to fit the Monogram model .

I'm surprised how few kits I have of these three in the stash.  I've got the old Airfix 1/72 Buccaneer kit and the 1/24 Harrier GR.1 that I've had since a youngster and will probably never get around to. I've got several ideas, but nothings really jumping out at me. Might have to go on a spending spree.

I've had several Harrier kits, all Airfix. i built a Sea Harrier (never got around to putting pics up, must do that). An old GR.3 that went straight in the parts bin, a new GR.3 that I sent to Zac in his moment of need and a GR.5 that. I chopped up to build a FSW version and hashed it up, so that also went in the parts bin.

If anyone wants any inspiration, the AST.396 chapters in BSP 2 (2nd edition) and Typhoon to Typhoon are well worth a look, all three types are included.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I have the Tamiya 1/48 Sea Harrier, bits of a Monogram 1/48 AV-8B and bits of an Airfix 1/24th I built
back around 1980-81. No Jaguar and the old mould 1/48th Buccaneer went to the rubbish bin a long
time ago.

Speaking of Harrier adjacent VTOLs.

From my point of view, this is an infrigment of Kit's Rule 1 ( wings too short ). ;D

Bristol Bottlenose?

I can't speak for other scales (are there any?  ) but in 1/72 early Hasegawa and Airfix Harriers (both 1969 moulds) are not really worth bothering with if you can get hold of a more modern mould.  Unless they are really cheap, you want whiff fodder, or there is a gap in your collection of late 70's/early 80's Hasegawa kits with the groovy box top design.
Later Hasegawa Sea Harrier (1983 mould) looks much better in the box but i've not put one together yet.  I have plans to do one in RAN FAA markings (probably not for this GB though).

I have examples of all three aircraft in my stash but then I did suggest the theme.

It's what happens when ericr crosses a Harrier and a Herring.

Has anybody considered the possibility of a VTOL Jaguar - and, if any parts are left over, a CTOL Harrier?

PR19_Kit

Someone did a CTOL Harrier here some years ago, and it looked very convincing, but I can't remember who did it and a search for 'Harrier' on here comes up with over SIXTY pages!  :banghead:
