Two builds done side by side, one took a couple of days, the other a couple of hours. The M 26 is rhe Trumpy one in 1/72nd scale, the other is rhe S&S models wargamming Conqueror mk2. The Conqueror consists of 5 lumps of resin, and a sprinkling of white metal sticky out bits. Hence it taking not very long to make. Both are currently in base coat, of which the colour suits (Tamiya dark green 2 RAF) The detail is quite vague around the road wheels in the Conqueror, so I will have to devise a plan to make them a bit more realistic. I was under the impression that the Conqueror was bigger than a centurion, but its not..

The one on the gate at Ashworth Depot near me looks GINORMOUS!  :o

S&S say their models are:—
Quote1/76-1/72 scale (20mm)
which doesn't really bode well if you're after models all in the same scale, IMHO.

FWIW, Conqueror's hull was 7.72 m long, that of Centurion was 7.56 m or 7.60 m, depending on variant (and without the auxiliary fuel tank on the rear plate). Conqueror was 3.98 m wide, Centurion 3.35 m. So Conqueror was definitely bigger, but not by that much. It was significantly taller, though, at 3.35 m vs. 2.89 for Centurion.
... I know all this and more ...

I will take my mk5 centurion out of its storage box later and make a proper comparison of them both.

The Conqueror is bigger than the Centurion but not radically so (width is the biggest difference, along with the gun barrel);

Centurion:
Mass    50 long tons (51 tonnes)
Length    Hull 24 ft 9.5 in (7.557 m); gun forward 32 ft 3 in (9.83 m)
Width    10 ft 9 in (3.28 m); with side plates 11 ft 1 in (3.38 m)
Height    9 ft 7.75 in (2.94 m)

Conqueror:
Mass    63 long tons (64 tonnes)
Length    Hull 25 feet 4 inches (7.72 m); gun forward 38 feet (12 m)
Width    13 feet 1 inch (3.99 m)
Height    10 feet 5 inches (3.18 m)

after seeing pictures of the Conqueror with troops stood besides them, I was under the impression that they were a lot bigger. The M 26 also I thought would be bigger. I am home now, so I will get the centurion out and take its picture next to the Conqueror.

I have taken the centurion oit of storage, and taken some pictures. As you can see, something isn't right. Is the centurion too big, or is the Conqueror too small, I have a sneaking suspition the centurion is too big, but I have nothing  to compare it too until I have built my FV-4005, which uses a centurion hull. Watch this space..

I am currently building an FV 4005, which is on a centurion chassis, because its in too many pieces, I can't judge whether its going ti be the same size as the Vespid  one, I will also have another look at the S&S site, to make sure I haven't got a smaller scale onr by accident.

Your expecting something more like this I take it?

In Dark Brown at the back is a Minicraft 1/35 Centurion Mk 3 and in the foreground is an Amusing 1/35 Conqueror Mk 2 upper and lower hull. I would have taken pictures of an AFV Club Centurion but mine are still bagged in their boxes as well as consisting of several parts that make up the upper hull, probably to allow changes of Mark or Version to be accommodated more easily hence the old Minicraft kit.

Yep!
Mine are the opposite way round it would seem. I need to get this FV-4005 hull built and compare that too, as one is either to big or the other is too small.

I have spoken to the person who makes the Conqueror, and he is adamant that it is at most, only a couple of mm out. I have compared it to the FV-4005 hull too, and it is smaller than that also. So it is going to have to be another whiff tank, with a different name, but is based on the conqueror, but scaled down a tad. Any ideas for names??

Only if it's not a tank, WW2 introduced the "C"-name convention for British tanks (Covenanter, Crusader, Churchill, Cavalier, Centaur, Cromwell, Comet, Charioteer, Challenger (A30), Centurion, Caernarvon, Conqueror, Chieftain, Challenger 1 (FV4030/4)), although, admittedly, there were a couple of outliers (mostly of unusual designs (Tetrarch, Tortoise) & the Black Prince).

An SPG, on the other hand .... ;)
