Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

The F-5T is always a crowd pleaser. Schoolchildren love to chant "F-5T Turkish, F-5G Greek!" And in these quite regular shows they always appear together, arriving side by side. Smoketanks on, they will pass over the jubilant crowds who are always ready to celebrate when the Goverment decides there is something to celebrate. With Red marking the T and Blue marking the G, they will pull into maximum rate turns. The opponents will cite various formulas and video clips to claim it is hardly the maximum for the G. Schoolchildren do not care. They see which one is better with their own eyes. They will remember to see the ground displays, too... An always pristine T against a G that doesn't seem to have been painted in the last three years. Schoolchildren do not want to hear about the NCO, too. He is under detention without trial for the past five years for secretly filming his colleagues spraying "leaked oil" under a G in preparation for a TV report. The country saves a lot of money by having no such airshows in the East. Where the children and adults do not whisper at all to say the forlorn plane wet himself with fear after the seeing the people coming in from the gates.

The purists will of course disagree with a lot of it. Everybody else in the world knows it is a Grumman F-29. And that particular airframe first flew in 2017. And it is numbered with an old number only to suggest had the Goverment been in charge back in 1986 they would have created an aviation industry from scratch in only three years as it's their wont to create miracles. All the TV reports will show the current Defence Minister who visited the US as a young politician as part of an Opposition delegation speaking amicably with the Grumman test pilots on the flightline of Edwards Airbase they were somehow invited to see. And of course snickering extends to the entire world as people still love to speculate about the odd accident where a brand new MiG-29 test plane somehow lost its way for hundreds of kilometers and crashed so lightly that anything worth reverse-engineering was saved. It has long been called the Interesting Gift to a country that was under a Western arms embargo for two decades after the invasion of Cyprus in 1974. That the largest recipient of economic aid from the former Soviet Union was to a NATO member surprises the average Western visitor but the schoolchildren know it.

And it is not the only plane that has that number and paint scheme. Three out of the five other airframes have it, too to ensure the airshows will go on without a problem. The intense combat operations of the Gs whose Turkish name is no longer officially used are a bad memory. "Which might be different according which day of the week today is" will be a regular comment of those who have had worked on it. The Military team that oversaw the project have been court martialed and reduced to the rank of Privates before dishonourably discharged for selling important secrets to the Northrop Company in the US which ran a similar programme under the F-20 name until the Grumman design was declared superior. Every pundit on TV declares the series of clashes that saw multiple losses on both sides would not have happened if it was F-5T instead of G because everybody knows everybody fears the T. It doesn't enter into calculations that it would have been an impossibility because the facility that produced the composites for the F-5T was built from scratch by the same Military team in 15 years and kept closed by the Goverment for a decade . Meaning it would have been already 28 years late to fight "hostile F-16s over the sea" as the episode is called now. It is a nonstarter to mention that the Insurgency was beaten with extensive Close Air Support by Gs to the point that there are very few images of F-5T with bombs. It just doesn't fit in...

(This is most probably not the backstory you would have written for this nice looking model, but it is very plausible these days.)
